Ava had parked her car near 7th street, figuring any closer would have been impossible. She'd been able to follow the sounds and people all the way downtown from there on foot, and was trying to tamp down her anxiousness. It was more people than she'd expected, somehow. It was more...everything. She looked down at her simple blue dress and sandals, standing still as people bumped and jostled and danced past her with all manner of sequins and feathers and paint on skin ( ... )

Marie had started going to these Pride events when Ryan left for Chicago. As silly has it had seemed, it made her feel closer to him. Today was different though. She'd actually be meeting Ryan there for a change. It made her hopeful that he'd come out to there parents soon.

Lost in the noise and atmosphere of everything, Marie almost didn't see Ava. Almost. "Ava," she said excitedly as she walked up to her friend. "I didn't know you'd be coming here otherwise I would've seen if you wanted to meet."

Ava turned around, mildly horrified to see Marie. She gaped and paled and let her flag dangle from her fingers as her friend chattered at her. Wasn't she wondering why Ava was there and what it meant? Or wait, no, Marie was straight and she was here. She might think Ava was there as an ally too...but even just the thought caused a hot flush of shame to wash over her.

"Um. Hi," she tried to sound normal but it came out as more of a squeak. "Well, it was kind of a split-second...thing. Um. What are you doing here?" She fidgeted--with her hair, with her flag, with the strap of her dress. She should've gone back to her car when she'd first had the thought, but there'd been this song playing and dancers spinning by, and a few more minutes wouldn't hurt.

"Oh, I see. That's cool," Marie said, not quite sure how to interpret Ava's response. She'd never seen the other woman quite so tense. "This is my third year going to this. And I'm gonna meet Ryan here in a bit. We'd love the company if you wanted to join us." Maybe Ava just felt awkward being there by herself. Marie had definitely been caught off guard the first time she went to Pride.

The shirt kept feeling tighter and tighter. While Riley was catcalling or howling or just laughing at him (he could never tell the difference once she really got going), Robert pulled his shirt off and tucked it into the back of his jeans. He felt a lot less self-conscious about it and the chance to show off his ink was a definite bonus. He'd spent a lot of time getting his back done and he never minded showing it.

"I dare you to take yours off," he taunted Riley only to have her laugh at him and punch him in the shoulder. Well, fine. Guess no one was going to get to enjoy her delicious rack today.

The parade was over, but the street festival was in full swing. It was even more crowded than the parade, and Ty was enjoying it. Alex had walked around with him some before going to check on the Angel Abbey table, so he was on his own just taking photos of everything that caught his eye. Most of the photos would be for the job, but some things he just liked and figured he'd use for his own collection.

When he noticed a guy walking by with ink covering his back, he took a few shots of it. It was good work, and he always liked getting ink on film. "Nice ink," he complimented in passing before focusing on a couple with two children who were having a perfect little family moment. That one was definitely going to be a keeper.

"Thanks!" Robert beamed at the guy taking the photos. "You should see hers." Robert gestured towards Riley.

"You get a lot of good photos today?" he asked while the guy took pictures of the family. "I can't wait to see all the videos and everything. This place is wild, my first time at Pride here. Lot more people than I thought would be here."

Ty turned back and smiled at the guy with the tat. He glanced at the woman with him and saw her shake her head, so he didn't ask if she wanted to show it off. "Yeah, tons," he said, focusing back on the guy. "Some of 'em will end up on the group's website or in literature, but I bet there's tons of attendee photos loaded tonight all over the net." He looked around and grinned. "Lots more people this year than last, and it just keeps increasing in size every year, which is good."

Tobias loved the pride parade the way some people loved Christmas. He could remember the first frightening marches he'd taken, Simon's hand in his, when the could expect a torrent of abuse from all sides. Now it was a party and that he had lived to see the change filled him with happiness. He didn't dress up any more, certainly not in the drag of his youth.

Instead he wore his favorite t-shirt, a large pride rainbow with the words "These Colors Don't Run Either" printed on it. He blew a kiss at an old friend going by and laughed giddily.

"That's fine young man." He smiled down at the youngster. "Where is- Ah. Hello."

He offered a smile to the man that was presumably the child's father. "No, we only just met."
