At day off was a wonderful thing. A day off on St Patrick's day was just a gift. Since Erick was off until Sunday he planned on really going out and enjoying himself. Clinic duty while better than being on call was draining and there was never a good outlet when he needed one.
As he walked into the Hawthorne and made a plan. There would be bourbon and pizza, ideally a lot of both. There would also the act of being sociable as he promised to speak to at least one new person tonight. Finding an empty bar stool, he raised finger to get the bartenders attention. Looking around the bar he wasn't sure if it was going to busy or not. Leaning slightly towards the woman sitting next to him he asked. "Do you know how busy it usually gets here at night?"
Adrienne blinked, a little startled at being addressed and then offered a tentative smile before taking another sip of her beer. She shrugged. "Only my second time in here, so I don't know, sorry." Ugh, she needed to get out more if just someone talking to her who wasn't Jase made her jumpy.
She paused and then offered, "The last time I was here, it was just moderately busy though. And the service was great."
Erick felt a little bad for startling her and moved a little more out of her personal space. His mama would smack him if he deliberately made a lady feel uncomfortable. "Yeah, I'm not a regular either but I told myself I needed to get out there and meet people. My dogs might be getting sick of me." He joked.
The bartender appeared and he ordered his bourbon straight and a large everything pizza. "I'll trust you on the service. I'm out of practice on the bar scene these days."
Oh, good, he was backing up a little. And then she felt bad, he really hadn't been all that close in the first place. Gingerly, she swiveled on her stool to face him. The least she could do was be friendly back. "Meeting people is always a good thing," she agreed, smiling at him again. "Or at least that's what my cousin says every time he drags me out for a night on the town."
