So is Anthony Head playing K9 or an evil Krillitane? But, oh dear. Four kids and a dog.

It's either Scooby-Doo or the Famous Five (which of course makes Mickey be Dick).

Now all we need is a spin off series.

Starring Sarah Jane and K9, plus a nerdy 80's computer kid. They could call it K9 and company or something. Suprised nobody's thought of this before. It's a surefire hit I tell you!

his current sidekicks, Rose and Mickey

-- except that Mickey was previously only a recurring character rather than a sidekick, so this tells us something about the overall casting of the new series, too.

hmmm,

K9=Scooby
Rose = Daphne
Mickey = Shaggy
Giles = Fred
means
Jack = Velma! It all makes sense ...

or ...

The Doctor = Fred
Rose = Daphne
Mickey = Shaggy
Giles = Velma
Jack = Scrappy Doo!

Nooooooo!

Mickey: Cripes, that was no alien, it was the High School Librarian
Giles: (stops to wipe glasses, takes a small pregnant pause, blinks endearingly at the camera, and in a quiet, measured, considered voice says "and I would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for that sonic screwdriver and some very homage-ridden plotting"

I read somewhere he's got other commitments that prevent him appearing in S2, but they're hoping to get him back for S3.

(Changing the subject, Velovision have a folding bike guide in the current issue (link is to cover and list of contents, not the actual guide), and a story about a new Birdy design).)
