She'd been asleep when it happened, which was fairly normal for her when these strange curses affected everyone, but Ammy was taking it with her usual grace. Which meant that she really couldn't seem to care less. Her robes had been changed to a pair of hakama and a cloak, and the sun god that strolled down the hall with a sleepy expression was ( Read more... )

The way Abel had dealt with the situation could not have been called graceful by any grand leap of the imagination. It was a small victory, perhaps, that he had only stopped shrieking some time ago. He was flustered and annoyed and trapped in a woman's body, but he couldn't go a week without food. Or, even as much as he dreaded the thought inwardly, human contact. Being sequestered felt too much like being locked up - voluntary or not - and his only previous experiences with dungeons and jail cells had all been most unpleasant ( ... )

"What sort of thing is that to say?! I may look like this right now, but I'm still a man in here!" Abel complained, stumbling again when he stopped paying attention to where he was putting his feet. In truth, the walking wasn't that difficult - it was making it look like he wasn't trying so very hard that was the real task.

"I-I'd just rather have them on. I know it must be different if you're not used to wearing shoes all the time, but I am." It was useless to explain, because he knew that his behavior was unnecessarily cautious, in this case. But Abel forged on ahead anyway. "Even if these aren't strictly comfortable, I'd still prefer this to walking everywhere barefoot."

"Of course you are! I didn't say you weren't, I just said you were pretty. That doesn't change anything." Really, why would he be upset about it? Ushiwaka was pretty too and that never hurt him any. Well, Ammy did feel a little bad for Abe, but only a little. That chronic case of hero-worshiping was a little unsettling.

"Mm-mm, and when you hurt yourself don't whine to me." Ammy huffed in amusement, tail wagging as she leaned over to blow a puff of air in his ear. "You people are so weird about your clothes." Even if Abel did whine about it, Ammy would probably try to help him anyway no matter what she said. Although not without a good amount of harassing to make up for it.

"But that's generally not the sort of thing you say to a man, Ammy." The whine in his voice only escalated as he spoke. Personally, it wasn't nearly the first time someone had called him "pretty" - or some variation thereof - but feigning some modicum of masculinity was pretty much par for the course, these days.

Any chance of maintaining that farce was shattered when Amaterasu invaded his personal space like that. Abel almost crushed the cake (certainly jostled it, in its box), and he had definitely shrieked just a tad. "I-If you keep doing things like that, though, it's going to be your fault!"

Ammy couldn't help but laugh, stepping just out of arm's reach as her cloak swirled around her calves. Flowers sprang up in her footsteps, and the red markings on her cheeks seemed to flicker a little brighter just for a moment as her shoulders shook.

"Oh? It isn't? Then what should I say?" A lighthearted huff escaped her as she cocked her head, thoroughly enjoying herself.

"'Handsome' is the traditional adjective, in a man's case," Abel persisted, trying to lecture even though the whine hadn't gone out of his voice, entirely, yet. Those flowers were distracting as usual, a brilliant splash of real color amidst the sometimes nauseating sea of reds. "You're not supposed to call me cute! Or pretty."

"Ahhh, true." A faint snort suggested that she was simply humoring him and preferred her choice of adjectives. She hardly seemed to notice her wake of flowers, happily distracted as she already was. "Not supposed to? I see."
