When the door opened, Kia looked up. Maybe it was someone looking for whoever'd stayed here in his absence. But it was Ran. He noticed the surprise and matched it with an amazed look of his own. Only his didn't waver or disappear. Kia wasn't ice.
"Ran." He couldn't think of anything else to say beyond the name that had pulled him back to this place.

Ran was trying not to feel. Trying not to pay attention to the warring emotions that were churning inside of him. Half of him wanted to punch Kia, an outlet for the anger he felt because he told him he was afraid of something like this happening. Afraid of the loss. Kia had said it would fine. And then he'd promised to wait.
And then he hadn't been there.
The other half wanted to drag him close and crush their lips together. Two weeks ago he'd come to a decision.
Now he didn't know. Schuldig's voice still rolled in his head from when he'd run into the telepath. It fed those fears and he was disgusted at himself for allowing those cracks at all.

Thinking of Ran had brought him back. How silly, but true.
Kia was prepared for violence, since he'd left when he'd said he'd be around. waiting for the redhead to make up his mind. No matter how much he pushed his way into people's lives, in the end it was their choice whether or not to be with him. Emotions had to be admitted personally.
"When I went back, it was as if no time had passed in Berlin."
