Ion hadn't noticed something was off when he woke up, until he moved to get off of the bed. The floor seemed very far down at he hesitated before climbing down. Now everything seemed too large, and he moved to the mirror to see what had changed...and it was him ( Read more... )

The situation was rather interesting and confusing for Sync. He sat up on the bed after a while with Ion nestled against him. He did know what to think or do so he simply decided on stroking on the other replica's hair soothingly as a distraction from the emotions and thoughts crossing his mind.

The only reason Guy hadn't killed Sync was because of the Fon Master and the trust he seemed to have in Sync. Well, that, and the fact that Ion was a little too close and might be caught in the middle and injured. "All right, Sync, show me. But if play us false, if you betray Ion's trust in you, you'll have me to answer to. Got it?"

Guy had no response concerning Van. He had been initially duped as well, but unlike Sync, had come to realize in time the idiocy of the man's plans and actions. Unsure of the point of time this Sync was from, Guy refrained from saying that's what they tried to tell him on the Tartarus before he jumped, but he wouldn't listen.

Guy's face was impassive and he remained motionless as Sync exited into the other room. He waited a few moments before turning back to Ion. His serious expression grew less than serious as he asked, "Couldn't you find somebody else?"

Ion was a little disappointed when Sync moved, but he shook his head to Guy's question, looking at the bathroom door a moment longer. "It would have potentially put Sync in a situation I was in once. His collar's requirements were a little more...specific than my own."

Shifting, he invited Guy to take a seat at the foot of the bed.

Guy slowly walked to the bed, and with each step, the whole conversation came rushing back to him. He had only been focused on Sync and his proximity to Ion, but now his friend's comment and the question he previously asked Sync came together to make sense.

Sense that Guy didn't want to know, but only because it included Sync.

The blond sat on the bed and sighed. He looked sideways at Ion. "The collars were going to kill you?"

Ion looked up at Guy and tilted his head. "I don't know for certain, but it wasn't something I wanted to take a chance with," he admitted. Especially not knowing what exactly would happen.

He could understand Guy's wanting little to do with Sync, all things considered. But if the other replica's views could change, Ion wanted to see it happen.

Guy rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, well, I can understand that." But Sync? The young noble was still having trouble wrapping his mind around that.

His blue eyes wandering over to the door, he held them there as he addressed his friend. "You know, this isn't exactly like Luke's case, right?"

Ion followed his gaze. "It isn't, but it's also not as different as it seems in some ways," he said carefully. This was very complicated, and not just because of the hotel.

"But I think Sync can change from what he was."

Guy turned to Ion. "So you're telling me that Sync has 'always been nice'? But, 'he just didn't know how to show it'?" The blond shook his head. "I don't buy that."

He sighed. "He said he doesn't have the same opinion he did about replicas. But what about himself? Does he still hate himself?"

"I don't mean that, but he's the way he is because of the environment he was in...I hd no idea they threw the other replicas alive into the Mt. Zaleho volcano." And it had briefly raised the question of what if he had been among them? he'd have never met Anise or any of his friends.

"I can't say how he feels about himself. But I don't think he's actually received any real kindness before."

Got that one...but not the last one.... heir_to_gardios August 7 2011, 11:00:15 UTC
"Hearing that surprised me as well," Guy admitted. It explained part of Sync's behavior, but Guy couldn't forgive the God-General that easily. The most he could do now was sit back and watch, then make a decision. Guy knew why Ion wasn't among the ones thrown in, but he always wondered if that knowledge ever made his friend feel guilty.

"Or, he had--he just didn't recognize it, thanks to Van and Mohs." That was the closest he could come to speaking about the events on the Tartarus without revealing too much.

Ion did feel some guilt over that, but more was that he had never thought anyone would do such a thing and never asked. It had really just made him realize how much he wanted to make a difference in how things were. Though had he known what was being done to the others he might have threatened to jump in to save them.

"It doesn't excuse his choices, but I may be able to understand a bit. I can only imagine how it must feel to be eliminated because you can't be who you were made to." He smiled slightly. "But you're also probably right about him not recognizing kindness. I was a little surprised when he stayed, and even more when he was angry on my behalf."

An important thought occurred to him though. "Guy, have you seen the female Luke that's here in the hotel recently?"

The young noble also felt some guilt over what happened. Van had been his servant, and had kept in contact with him, yet had no idea that was going on. If he had, he probably wouldn't have sided with Van initially. Although he might have come up with a different way to save the others.

"I wish I can be as understanding as you," Guy said, absently rubbing the spot on his arm where Sync marked him. "But so what if he couldn't be who he was made to? He might have been called trash, but he wasn't tossed away like the others. Van saw some value in him--that should have given him a clue." Lorelei, did he just defend Van? He must be going nuts.

He blinked in surprise at the sudden topic change. Or was it really? Turning his head slightly to hide the warmth on his cheeks, Guy nodded. "Yeah, I met her. Why?"

So true... *sigh* findsthegood August 7 2011, 21:48:47 UTC
Well Guy was one of the most level-headed of their group. Ion was understanding, but also impulsive at times, as well as trusting.

"That's a valid point, but not everyone thinks the same and so we sometimes miss things we should see."

He blinked when guy turned his head away. "Because, she may react worse than you did if she comes across Sync and I together because of circumstances here. That aside, I haven't seen her recently and the last time I had she was in a situation that may have increased any guilt she was feeling over several things...including my death. I'm worried about her."

Guy wondered what Tear's reaction would be to this...or Lorelei forbid, Anise's. He had a feeling Tear would hold back, but Anise would take that extra step he didn't and attack Sync for being near the Fon Master.

"Yeah, I know." He really did know. He was still kicking himself for not really seeing Van's true intentions before it was too late. He might have been able to prevent what happened at Akzeriuth--no matter what the Score said.

"Damn," he muttered. "I didn't think about that." His eyes narrowed slightly. "Two questions: What situation?" Guy to the rescue again. "And who told you about your death?"

Anise would definitely most likely attack...but he'd address that part later. If he could find her.

"I was hoping you wouldn't ask," Ion admitted, clearly uncomfortable. "But I found out about my death through one of the hotel's tricks." He'd had his suspicions already though, especially with how Luke reacted to and treated him. "She was out in the stocks and a sign listed crimes she had committed, with my death being among them." He didn't believe she caused his death though.

"The circumstance I mentioned...I was caught and abused by a shapeshifter in Sync's form a couple of months ago. Luke found me but he came back as Sync again and almost took me again." That much, Sync did not know.

Guy rubbed his hand over his face. So much for keeping that away from him....He suddenly felt the urge to build a fontech explosive and attach it to the hotel.

He sighed. "Luke didn't cause your death," he said quietly. Luke had been there when it happened, but it wasn't his fault. Damn! Guy was going to have to talk to her about that. "But what do you mean stocks? Who decided what her crimes were and that she should be punished?" He was starting to become angry.

A feeling that only increased as his friend continued. His hands balled into fists and he grit his teeth. He was one of the ones supposed to protect Ion and Luke, and instead, he was off chasing women. "I'm sorry, Ion, that I let that happen to you. And to Luke. But if he looked like Sync, then how...?" he left the question hanging.
