Ion hadn't noticed something was off when he woke up, until he moved to get off of the bed. The floor seemed very far down at he hesitated before climbing down. Now everything seemed too large, and he moved to the mirror to see what had changed...and it was him

Guy had no response concerning Van. He had been initially duped as well, but unlike Sync, had come to realize in time the idiocy of the man's plans and actions. Unsure of the point of time this Sync was from, Guy refrained from saying that's what they tried to tell him on the Tartarus before he jumped, but he wouldn't listen.
Guy's face was impassive and he remained motionless as Sync exited into the other room. He waited a few moments before turning back to Ion. His serious expression grew less than serious as he asked, "Couldn't you find somebody else?"

Shifting, he invited Guy to take a seat at the foot of the bed.

Sense that Guy didn't want to know, but only because it included Sync.
The blond sat on the bed and sighed. He looked sideways at Ion. "The collars were going to kill you?"
Reply
He could understand Guy's wanting little to do with Sync, all things considered. But if the other replica's views could change, Ion wanted to see it happen.

His blue eyes wandering over to the door, he held them there as he addressed his friend. "You know, this isn't exactly like Luke's case, right?"
Reply
"But I think Sync can change from what he was."
Reply
He sighed. "He said he doesn't have the same opinion he did about replicas. But what about himself? Does he still hate himself?"
Reply
"I can't say how he feels about himself. But I don't think he's actually received any real kindness before."
Reply
"Or, he had--he just didn't recognize it, thanks to Van and Mohs." That was the closest he could come to speaking about the events on the Tartarus without revealing too much.
Reply
"It doesn't excuse his choices, but I may be able to understand a bit. I can only imagine how it must feel to be eliminated because you can't be who you were made to." He smiled slightly. "But you're also probably right about him not recognizing kindness. I was a little surprised when he stayed, and even more when he was angry on my behalf."
An important thought occurred to him though. "Guy, have you seen the female Luke that's here in the hotel recently?"
Reply
"I wish I can be as understanding as you," Guy said, absently rubbing the spot on his arm where Sync marked him. "But so what if he couldn't be who he was made to? He might have been called trash, but he wasn't tossed away like the others. Van saw some value in him--that should have given him a clue." Lorelei, did he just defend Van? He must be going nuts.
He blinked in surprise at the sudden topic change. Or was it really? Turning his head slightly to hide the warmth on his cheeks, Guy nodded. "Yeah, I met her. Why?"
Reply
"That's a valid point, but not everyone thinks the same and so we sometimes miss things we should see."
He blinked when guy turned his head away. "Because, she may react worse than you did if she comes across Sync and I together because of circumstances here. That aside, I haven't seen her recently and the last time I had she was in a situation that may have increased any guilt she was feeling over several things...including my death. I'm worried about her."
Reply
"Yeah, I know." He really did know. He was still kicking himself for not really seeing Van's true intentions before it was too late. He might have been able to prevent what happened at Akzeriuth--no matter what the Score said.
"Damn," he muttered. "I didn't think about that." His eyes narrowed slightly. "Two questions: What situation?" Guy to the rescue again. "And who told you about your death?"
Reply
"I was hoping you wouldn't ask," Ion admitted, clearly uncomfortable. "But I found out about my death through one of the hotel's tricks." He'd had his suspicions already though, especially with how Luke reacted to and treated him. "She was out in the stocks and a sign listed crimes she had committed, with my death being among them." He didn't believe she caused his death though.
"The circumstance I mentioned...I was caught and abused by a shapeshifter in Sync's form a couple of months ago. Luke found me but he came back as Sync again and almost took me again." That much, Sync did not know.
Reply
He sighed. "Luke didn't cause your death," he said quietly. Luke had been there when it happened, but it wasn't his fault. Damn! Guy was going to have to talk to her about that. "But what do you mean stocks? Who decided what her crimes were and that she should be punished?" He was starting to become angry.
A feeling that only increased as his friend continued. His hands balled into fists and he grit his teeth. He was one of the ones supposed to protect Ion and Luke, and instead, he was off chasing women. "I'm sorry, Ion, that I let that happen to you. And to Luke. But if he looked like Sync, then how...?" he left the question hanging.
