He hadn't thought this through past getting into a room so he didn't really care when the door shut and they continued, not even looking for the bed he assumed should probably be there. Mello wasn't sure when he'd realized how much he'd missed this--sometime between that first touch and the kiss--but now he couldn't take his hands off Matt's body, ( Read more... )

The pause following Mello's wince had Matt pulling back enough to break the kiss. He didn't look at Mello's collar this time, tearing his shirt overhead instead. He could still feel where Mello's nails had scratched over his back and it twisted the excitement in him, a wild frantic need for the other man that led his hands back to the blond. Kicking his pants free when they were low enough, he took a fistful of Mello's shirt and started with a handful of blind steps into the room ( ... )

"It's not that far," he said but he'd already reached the table.

The pack was set next to Mello's leg and he stood beside him smoking for a moment while he considered the pros and cons of moving on the table. It didn't look stable enough for him to throw himself on top of the other man and after a moment he just shrugged to himself and reached up to touch the collar he'd almost forgotten he was still wearing. Pulling it off meant throwing it on the ground toward Mello's and he slid down to the ground beside the table, staring at the carpet.

"So what's been happening? I can't remember how long it's been since we bumped into each other." Time seemed to lose form here, it pushed borders of the human mind and he was sure he'd lived years here at times, and in a way he had, but the actual time between when he'd first shown up and now didn't seem as impressive.

He turned his head a little further, trying to see, but Matt vanished from view when he sat down. Mello groaned, making a brief attempt to turn onto his side before giving up.

"Dunno," he muttered, trying to remember what Matt was referring to. "Nothing much." That just meant he couldn't remember and didn't care right now to try harder. "You?"

"Nothing much," he echoed, half grinning as he said it because it was easy to follow Mello's line of thought in his voice and well, it's not like it mattered. He figured Mello would've found him again if something shitty enough happened.

He shifted back to rest against one of the table's legs and his head hit back against it, watching his bare legs and then reaching up to knock on the underside of the table where he thought Mello's head must be. "I saved the world though and became God. Then I made a deal with the corporate world so that I could recreate technology and ended up stealing it and leaving everyone in the dark ages so that they were forced to come after me and fight in like. Mortal Kombat like games in order to try to win it back."

Mello jumped slightly, startled, and fidgeted on the table. "What?" he blurted, confused, then frowned because Matt was full of shit and Mello was too lightheaded to follow his joking all too well.

"Did not," he argued, trying against turn over and finally managing to prop himself up slightly on his side, one arm dangling down over the edge of the table near Matt, but only half trying to reach him. "Stop saying stupid things."

Leaning forward, he reached to touch the tips of Mello's fingers with his own, catching the man's fingers and pulling lightly before letting go. He went back against the table and he would've glanced up but Mello was still mostly hidden from view. "I was joking, don't throw a fit." His words were lazy too, followed by exhaled cigarette smoke and it was hard to believe how many months had passed since they'd last seen each other.

Years, if he counted those interwoven lives he seemed to always be walking through. "It could have happened though." The suggestion trailed off and it had been pointless to begin with but most words were.

"Mm. Maybe," Mello agreed lazily, hardly 'throwing a fit.' He liked the way Matt played with his fingers and was vaguely disappointed when the contact was lost between them again. In the back of his mind, he was aware he should clean up, possibly bandage his neck because blood was still oozing slowly from the deeper wounds and he had no idea how much blood he'd lost but he was too comfortable right now.

Well, almost. "I'm cold," he muttered, wiggling his fingers at Matt for attention.

"I told you to get up and sit with me on the couch," Matt reminded him, grimacing but still moving to his knees. His hand reached for the edge of the table and he hauled himself to his feet with a grunt. Mello looked sloppy on the table and he eyed him cautiously before deciding that it wouldn't matter if he crawled on top of him or not. The blood was vivid on his skin though and his hand stopped mid motion while reaching out to brush Mello's hair back.

He stepped back. "I'm going to see if there are any bandages around here first."

The room was unfamiliar but he headed for the bathroom first anyway. It figured Mello would lay there and bleed to death but he didn't try to talk the man into following him to the bathroom. He stared at his reflection once he was there, naked skin stained with Mello's blood, and he was thinking of other things too, juggling thoughts, and then they were all pushed away as he rifled through the drawers for something useful.

"Okay," Mello murmured, shifting so he could watch as Matt moved toward the bathroom, and then staring at the door until he reappeared. The happy comfortable feeling was starting to ebb away finally and Mello groaned, trying very carefully to sit up and then quickly deciding against it at the wave of dizziness that hit him upon lifting his head.

He didn't take very long coming back or crossing the room with what he'd been looking for. The bandages were left carelessly on the table and he gave Mello a damp towel to hold while he pressed one of the bandages to the wound bleeding the most. "You're like a magnet for getting hurt," he remarked, wondering how they'd managed to screw with the collar shoving spikes into Mello's neck. It was crazy how sex became the most important thing. "Here, you hold it."

"You think I'm doing it on purpose?" Mello growled under his breath, shooting Matt a bleary glare as he took the cloth, starting to wipe blood haphazardly off his chest. It really was everywhere.

He lifted his other hand to hold the gauze in place, pressing down because he'd felt that was what Matt was doing. They probably should have done this earlier. He still half didn't care-- probably because he was still rather lightheaded because of it.

He watched for a moment and then took the towel back to help wipe off the blood while Mello held the gauze. "I didn't say you were. I just said you were a magnet for getting hurt." He shrugged off his own words, didn't elaborate, didn't care to. He'd already realized he couldn't really help Mello here, he wasn't capable of it. The way their days stretched far apart from each other was a reminder of how easy it was to find slots in this life alone.

"I hadn't realize there'd been this much blood." It'd been easy to ignore it while they'd been fucking but the towel was heavy with red now and he was going to need another if the bleeding didn't stop soon.

"I guess. I might be," Mello muttered, in almost shocking agreement. He did seem to have a penchant for getting into trouble--and it was no wonder, with that attitude of his--though this time really had been entirely the Hotel's doing.

He groaned, shifting slightly so he could get his free hand beneath him, propping himself up on an elbow. "Help me - sit up," he asked, voice sounding a little strained as he fought off the renewed dizziness. But it would be better to sit up, get the injured area above his heart.

The deepest wound that Matt was tending to was the only one still actively bleeding, and it was probably a miracle nothing vital had been torn. Though it was still a fragile area that bled plenty and they'd been ignoring it for a while. Mello, honestly, was still only about half-aware of all this. He lacked the urgency that might or might not be a good idea right now, instead just acting on a combination of what Matt told him to do and years-old first aid schooling.

He helped pull Mello up like he wanted, watching him carefully but not saying anything more about it. Hopefully the bleeding would stop under the pressure of the bandage and they wouldn't have to do more than clean it up but then there was never any real limits to the things that could happen here. It was hard to think of dying but he knew that it was possible, sensed half incredulously that he had, and the idea of watching Mello bleed to death made his thought process wither off.

"Let's go to the couch," he said again, spitting nicotine into the room with each breath. "It's closer to the bathroom in case we need more bandages."

The ground was still littered with everything he'd thrown off in the rush to get to here and there were pieces of broken glass too. It didn't look like the room belonged to anyone else but that wasn't saying much. None of the rooms really belonged to anyone, he thought. Maybe that's why it was so hard to stay in one place.

"Fine," Mello agreed this time, brusquely, and hauled himself up with a wince. Dragging himself to the edge of the table, he paused and breathed deeply for a few moments, fighting off the dizziness as he reached out for Matt again to be helped down. Looping an arm securely around his friend's neck, Mello let himself down off the table, careful of where he was stepping.

When they'd managed to get to the couch--carefully, Mello glaring at broken things on the floor--he sank into it gratefully, letting his head fall back with a groan. "Wanna get me some water?" Mello asked without looking up at Matt, just relaxing for a bit. Other than the pain and lightheadedness, he didn't feel that bad. Actually, if the dizziness went away, the sensation of floating was still rather nice.

The couch was a nice concession and he helped Mello to it slowly once the man had agreed, stepping around the mess or kicking it aside. He hesitated at the request and glanced toward the table again. "I think I smashed the pitcher when I threw everything on the ground but sure, hold on." It was hot and he wouldn't have minded a drink either, the rush of the day still tingling through him like some kind of cheap thrill ( ... )
