Dark, forbidding forests weren't all that new to Hakkai. That didn't mean he liked walking out the door of his room only to find himself in the middle of one. A quick turn around and the door was gone, leaving him in the dim light available among the skeletal looking trees

Inwardly, he cursed Greed--it was as if he was filling his soul with himself and laughing as the hapless Wrath stalked restlessly around this place to find more humans to force himself on and, what he had not found right off the bat, would force themselves on him.
He had snapped the twig, and found the other one alerted to his presence, and gone into a clearing. And there he relentlessly followed him. Now in the dark spot, he could see--. A young man in the clearing--a very tranquil young man with something dark in him. Perhaps something darker than himself.
"What do you really look like?" Wrath asked, his eyes glowing red while standing in the dark spot. Wrath was tingling with heat as he watched the young man. He was getting ready to hurl himself at the young man with the force of a speeding train.

It was a very personal question and he didn't feel like answering, but as usual, he was polite and soft spoken as he answered.
"I look like myself, as do most people. Unlike you, but you don't seem quite natural, now do you?"

When he comes into the clearing, the red lights disappear, revealing a green eye and one with a snake on it.
"You are correct," Wrath tells the creature from about ten feet away in the clearing. Ah, he loved it and it made him considerably harder. How the other being immediately deflected Wrath's invasive question away, and back to the assailant. "Though you look more human than me, I detect an aura that conceals another form. This is the only form that I have," he states accusingly, as if saying, 'I'm hiding nothing, but you're hiding something ( ... )

"It seems that neither of us are quite what we seem, then. How odd. Now, if you'd be so kind as to excuse me, I would like to return to my room now."

But still. That favorite yellow dress, the heavy golden-brown braid, bright even in the shadows... does he remember her yet? Perhaps it will take speech; she puts on an excellent front of bravery as she steps forward through the bracken, but she can't control the slight waver in her voice, that tiniest hint of panic and dread.
"...Gonou?"
But then again, Hakkai knows panic and dread only too well, doesn't he?

He knew that voice better than he knew anyone else's. Just the sound was enough to make him freeze with uncertainty. Heart thudding almost painfully in his chest, he slowly turned towards the figure that seemed to have formed out of the shadows itself.
"... Kanan?"

Her hair was mussed, and the hem of her dress was torn, but other than that? She was exactly the same. "Gonou!" she cried, running forward and flinging herself into his arms. "Gonou, I was so scared!"
