Dark, forbidding forests weren't all that new to Hakkai. That didn't mean he liked walking out the door of his room only to find himself in the middle of one. A quick turn around and the door was gone, leaving him in the dim light available among the skeletal looking trees ( Read more... )

This dense, tangled forest was just the place to find victims. Or opponents. Or--the rarest, and it certainly never began that way, as he had forced himself on them first---consensual partners.

Inwardly, he cursed Greed--it was as if he was filling his soul with himself and laughing as the hapless Wrath stalked restlessly around this place to find more humans to force himself on and, what he had not found right off the bat, would force themselves on him.

He had snapped the twig, and found the other one alerted to his presence, and gone into a clearing. And there he relentlessly followed him. Now in the dark spot, he could see--. A young man in the clearing--a very tranquil young man with something dark in him. Perhaps something darker than himself.

"What do you really look like?" Wrath asked, his eyes glowing red while standing in the dark spot. Wrath was tingling with heat as he watched the young man. He was getting ready to hurl himself at the young man with the force of a speeding train.

Hakkai's sharp green eyes locked on the twin points of red. There was power in the person that he faced; so much so that he was hesitant to call him a person at all. Still, he didn't fit how a fellow demon felt, either.

It was a very personal question and he didn't feel like answering, but as usual, he was polite and soft spoken as he answered.

"I look like myself, as do most people. Unlike you, but you don't seem quite natural, now do you?"

Polite and soft-spoken. The very opposite of him, at least when his facade was down. The other man with green eyes, one of which is wearing a monocle, has managed to identify him immediately. The heat inside Wrath increases by a rising wave when he hears how poised the other man--creature is--the kind that could potentially dominate him, who is polite when he has no choice but is otherwise an unapologetic brute.

When he comes into the clearing, the red lights disappear, revealing a green eye and one with a snake on it.

"You are correct," Wrath tells the creature from about ten feet away in the clearing. Ah, he loved it and it made him considerably harder. How the other being immediately deflected Wrath's invasive question away, and back to the assailant. "Though you look more human than me, I detect an aura that conceals another form. This is the only form that I have," he states accusingly, as if saying, 'I'm hiding nothing, but you're hiding something ( ... )

His eyes catch the other's, his stance shifting into something loose and seemingly casual, but obviously ready to run. Hakkai, while an adept fighter, would prefer to keep himself out of fights. After all, he was a healer, but he couldn't heal himself. The subtle taunting the other does just makes him smile even more.

"It seems that neither of us are quite what we seem, then. How odd. Now, if you'd be so kind as to excuse me, I would like to return to my room now."

Did somebody say "psychological torture"? brotherly_lover March 30 2011, 22:47:59 UTC
He could be forgiven for not recognizing her at first. There was almost no sun here, and what little light managed to seep through the twisting branches was speckled and dim, like the lights at the bottom of the sea.

But still. That favorite yellow dress, the heavy golden-brown braid, bright even in the shadows... does he remember her yet? Perhaps it will take speech; she puts on an excellent front of bravery as she steps forward through the bracken, but she can't control the slight waver in her voice, that tiniest hint of panic and dread.

"...Gonou?"

But then again, Hakkai knows panic and dread only too well, doesn't he?

Oh this will KILL him ^^ green_eye_demon March 31 2011, 03:20:42 UTC
That voice.

He knew that voice better than he knew anyone else's. Just the sound was enough to make him freeze with uncertainty. Heart thudding almost painfully in his chest, he slowly turned towards the figure that seemed to have formed out of the shadows itself.

"... Kanan?"

Yes. Yes. it will. Unless you prefer otherwise. :D brotherly_lover March 31 2011, 17:44:15 UTC
She looked exactly the same as she had the last time he'd seen her. Not as she'd looked months later in the Hyakugan's dungeons, pale and far too thin. No, she looked like she had that last day, when she'd kissed him goodbye and sent him off to work.

Her hair was mussed, and the hem of her dress was torn, but other than that? She was exactly the same. "Gonou!" she cried, running forward and flinging herself into his arms. "Gonou, I was so scared!"

In his eyes, she was just as beautiful as he'd ever seen her, torn hem and all. The moment she was close enough, he closed his arms around her, the limbs almost trembling. Oh God she smelled just like he remembered... Squeezing her tight, he let out a shaky breath and buried his face in her hair, as if to soak in her essence.

"It's alright, Kanan. I'm here now."
