Dark, forbidding forests weren't all that new to Hakkai. That didn't mean he liked walking out the door of his room only to find himself in the middle of one. A quick turn around and the door was gone, leaving him in the dim light available among the skeletal looking trees ( Read more... )

Polite and soft-spoken. The very opposite of him, at least when his facade was down. The other man with green eyes, one of which is wearing a monocle, has managed to identify him immediately. The heat inside Wrath increases by a rising wave when he hears how poised the other man--creature is--the kind that could potentially dominate him, who is polite when he has no choice but is otherwise an unapologetic brute.

When he comes into the clearing, the red lights disappear, revealing a green eye and one with a snake on it.

"You are correct," Wrath tells the creature from about ten feet away in the clearing. Ah, he loved it and it made him considerably harder. How the other being immediately deflected Wrath's invasive question away, and back to the assailant. "Though you look more human than me, I detect an aura that conceals another form. This is the only form that I have," he states accusingly, as if saying, 'I'm hiding nothing, but you're hiding something.'

Though, he would not reach his climax just through verbal conversation. Far from it.

His eyes catch the other's, his stance shifting into something loose and seemingly casual, but obviously ready to run. Hakkai, while an adept fighter, would prefer to keep himself out of fights. After all, he was a healer, but he couldn't heal himself. The subtle taunting the other does just makes him smile even more.

"It seems that neither of us are quite what we seem, then. How odd. Now, if you'd be so kind as to excuse me, I would like to return to my room now."

Wrath's predatorial nature alerts him to the fact that the creature that looks like a young man is about to try to flee. His prey then, and not his dominator. Yet the other smiles more at his comment, and the former follows with an astute comment--but also the indication that he plans to leave.

"That's out of the question."

He starts to move forward in advance towards his prey. He did not have his swords with him, so that leveled the ground considerably.

The calm facade never breaks even as Hakkai takes off into the dark forest at a clip much quicker than any human could manage. If it's going to come down to a fight, he wants out of a clearing where the other could have a clear go at him.

And Wrath tornadoes after him into the forest, blowing a storm of leaves, grass and dirt behind him. If he were a human he would have no hope of cornering this rapidly-running creature, due to the darkness and the uneven, unpredictable terrain of the forest. And that the one with the monocle ran faster than any human could.

Wrath has no trouble seeing in the dark. A dark forest is like a dark sewer. Using his Ultimate Eye, he charts the shortest way to get to his prey, and takes it, finding the gaps in trees, the most maneuverable ground, the least resistance towards his prey.

While eyesight in the dark isn't his thing, even in his human form, his sense of smell and hearing are far greater than normal, so he knows he's being paced, and closely at that. Teeth gritted, he twists around a bit, both hands glowing before he looses twin bolts of his own energy at the oncoming enemy.

As soon as the glow dies from his hands, he snaps towards the left, one slim arm snaking out to snag a low lying branch. Once he has a decent hold, he hoists himself up and into the canopy, his steps just as sure as if he's still on the ground.

What was this? Some sort of energy blast that was internal to the creature. The range is far but its diameter is not, and evading smaller projectiles such as bullets is his specialty. With a sideways lunge Wrath narrowly misses being hit by the searing energy that flies past his ear.

Aroused and bothered in his groin by the other's efficiency, Wrath dashes after him again with increased fervor, tracking his movement from the branch to the canopy. Once again privileging the shorter route, the Homunculus bounds up the tree, scaling the trunk with his legs and hips hugging the tree while his arms grab onto every available knot and natural indent in the trunk up towards the canopy.

As soon as he hears him moving into the trees, he turns again, this time aiming several smaller shots into the trees below his pursuer. If he can't hit him, then he'll do his best to trip him up. As soon as the bolts are out of his hands once again, he flees, launching himself into the higher branches.

To Hakkai's keen gaze, the other looks a good deal bulkier than he is, so he might have issues in the upper branches, while Hakkai would just make them sway.

Expecting the attack, Wrath shifted as needed around the tree, climbing swift circles and half-circles around the trunk to avoid the flying green bolts that hurtled towards the ground. As his quarry leaped into the higher branches, it took the Homunculus one glance at the branches to realize that he would have no chance on the higher branches. But, from the top of the trees, there were only so many places that the monocled one could go from the canopy. Therefore, Wrath kicked off of the trunk, leaping at the adjacent tree and clamping around the trunk. This one bore thicker branches, and he scaled this one to reach the upper branches, with the intent of intercepting the other when he had to leave the tree with thinner branches.

As soon as the branches start to sway dangerously, Hakkai jumps back down to the forest floor, the landing barely audible. This time, however, he doesn't run.

"Why are you doing this?"

When the creature jumped down to the forest floor, Wrath scaled down the trunk and about ten feet off the ground he dropped down, standing in front of the monocled young man from about fifteen feet away.

"I want to shove my junk in your ass," he answered the other one crudely.

His answer pulls a soft laugh from Hakkai. Crossing his arms, he stands idly, watching him with that odd gaze of his.

"How honest. Crude, but honest. A shame you'll never get that chance. There are few I allow to do that to me."

The young man is so idle..casual--the creature must know that he is more than a match for Wrath. That excites him. It also leads him to proceed with caution. He could lunge again but that might result in another pointless chase, or may result in a fight that he would not be able to win. Which mean he would die, and that would be equally pointless.

"Very well." He acquiesces lowering his head, and then raising it again, asking with marked humility, but audible impatience. "Then will you get me off?"

"Not too long ago you seemed rather set on chasing after me and forcing me. What changed your mind?"

Still standing there, he tipped his head a little, lips pursed thoughtfully.

"One must always submit to the stronger. And you are stronger than me," he states to the other one whose lips were pursed in thought. Such an idea was not novel. It was the way of the world.

The demon inside him purrs at the thought of someone calling him strong, but Hakkai just keeps smiling that placid smile.

"Shall we truly see who is stronger, then?"
