You are the second person today to say that they thought this film implied that section or non natural birth mamas are somehow detached from their babies because of their experiences.

Maybe I need to watch it again, (which I will since it just came) but that was not the vibe that I got. I think its definitely possible to have a less than stellar birth experience color your feelings immediately postpartum, but I don't think its something that can be qualified in absolutes.

I cried a lot when I saw it too.

They had a whole section on the love hormones and they literally said something like "where would be be without love."

But really that was just one part of a hugely awesome movie.

When I saw the movie, that was the part that reeeeally made me cry. I *did* feel love and I *did* feel attached to Trid when she was born, C-section or no c-section:(

DITTO. I was literally high on the love when I had Travis. He was born by c-section, too. I was on another planet, holding him as a newborn, it was so intense.

I wouldn't say I was "rubbed the wrong way" so much as I just feel it was a little more...radical than what I believe. I think even without the GIANT rush of oxytocin, there's still something going on and, hi? you get oxytocin rushes every time you nurse.

BUT I don't have any basis for comparison. Maybe it is a different feeling when you birth naturally. I definitely felt intense love as soon as both my babies came out and I also nursed Erica right away.

Yep, I thought that part was a little bit much and I think it detracted a little from the overall message.

LOL @ Joel, btw. I have to admit I thought the same thing.

See, I got it totally different. I heard it more like that moms deserve to have the full package of love hormones. I'll say - the bonding immediately afterward with James (vaginal with epidural) was totally different than with William (c-section)

When they brought W to me I still had my guts all over the place. I had no desire to hold him. My hubby asked if I wanted to nurse him and I totally didn't want to! I mean I was kind of happy to have him in theory but at that moment I kind of didn't really care all that much.

With James when he came out I held him and we looked into each other's eyes and he cooed at me and I just felt filled with love for him. I looked at him and said "Are we falling in love?" and he answered with the most affirmative noises.

Not that I don't love or didn't bond with William but it was a whole different thing with James and I can believe that it'd be even better had I had a natural birth.

I loved the film! There were a few parts that were a little... hmm, but overall, it was excellent!

It's there to show women possibilities that they may not have thought about before. Don't get down on yourself for what has happened in the past, you do the best you can with what you have to work with both information and finances. Your girls are clearly bonded to you, as you are to them. I know a lot of mothers blame the fussy baby thing on not having a natural birth, but you remember Izzy ("The Screaming Bag Of Hell"), and her birth was 100% natural. It's wonderful, but not *everything*, kwim?
