Exactly what I was thinking. And I'm wondering why five shots were necessary, too - possibly to stop him detonating something, maybe. If he actually had a bomb about his person, that was.

Well, yes, that was one of the things that was stopping me thinking 'bastards' - it sounds like they were pretty sure he had something sinister under there.
Still, won't comment further till I've heard more about it.

*Looks outside at the weather here*

Hmmm...if he was wearing a thick padded coat round here he'd have slipped by unnoticed - it's not exactly summery ATM!

Quite. Once there's official confirmation that this was in fact the case I'll relax a bit. But not before.

OK, there is now official confirmation from the police (10:54) that it was armed officers.
