I'm sorry to hear about Kingsley losing the role - that would've been, well, interesting to see.
"a fresh approach" well, someone's already done the "everyone as kids" approach, and Hallmark did the "looking back after its all over" approach...and SciFi Channel did the "everyone's kids take up their mantles" approach.
dare I ask what's left?
Emmerich doing a political thriller...scares me. I have this feeling that he'll ignore all the religious and political dangers of the time, and he'll invent new ones.
...or he'll use the religious and political problems of the Elizabethan era, and make heavyhanded comparisons to modern Iraq.
Sam Mendes' next film will be an adaptation of Ian McEwan's On Chesil Beach, about a young couple who are on their honeymoon in 1962. Carey Mulligan (An Education) is to play the female lead.
Oh wow. I love Cary Mulligan, although I've only seen her in the DW episode. Think this means she's the next Kate Winslet?
Ugh, I tried to re-watch P&P just so I could see her and couldn't get through it. I hated that movie. Give me the BBC version anyday. (Hmmm, maybe I should fire that up while I clean my apartment...)
If you haven't, you should really see her episode of Doctor Who. You don't even need to watch the series to understand it, it's completely stand-alone. In fact, it's the best stand-alone ep of any TV show I've ever seen.
lol, I know. One of these things is not like the other! It'll be interesting to see if they make Arthur a cocky punk a la Merlin or go the more traditional route.

More likely, he'll find an excuse to throw in lots of explosions and action scenes.
