Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes an "intellectual action man"? I don't know what Guy Ritchie is drinking. He speaks at Comic-Com about the movie Sherlock Holmes he's working on, which will star Robert Downey Jr. as the famous fictional detective, who will get to wield a sword and his fists. Empire and SpoutBlog have the details. The film is adapted ( Read more... )

I love Steven Mackintosh, although mainly from UK TV dramas, I must admit. I always thought he'd have made a terrific Steerpike when he was younger.

I first saw Mackintosh in Twelfth Night and kind of fell in love with his breathy voice. *g* But I think he makes a much more memorable bad guy.

Mmm. Steerpike. Don't you think Jamie Bell might have some of the same qualities to pull it off today?

Wait, woah, Steven Mackintosh was in the Underworld sequel?! How could I have missed that, zomg? I remember seeing him in Different For Girls with Rupert Graves where he played a male-to-female transgendered person. Bloody awesome.

God, I'm gonna have to watch it again, aren't I? *cringes at the Speedman*

And good god, he's in a Hindi movie I've owned for ages and have been putting off watching cos it's all about political activism. These sneaky actors ...

He was fantastic! Kind of skanky and mad-eyed, and unconventionally handsome. He's basically just the exposition dump, but he's so great at being snarky in the face of Selene's guns, he was just so vivid as a character, you know?

So, yeah, check out Underworld: Evolution again. And I think his role is going to be expanded in the prequel, Rise of the Lycans, which is out next year.

They have been really great at moving the character of Dexter along, developing him one stage at a time. I can't wait to see where he's at this season.

♥ Turkish. I swear it's not just because of the whole "Jason Statham" thing.

...was the best part of the Underworld sequel.

YES. You know, I've basically completely forgotten everything else about the movie, except for his part in it.

How can you not love a character that's called "Turkish"? :)

I rewatched it a couple of days ago, for some reason, and loved every second he was on screen - except, you know, when he died.
