They're probably coming out of a boarded-up old well on your grounds. You should investigate, preferably with inadequate safety equipment.

Seriously, it was really cool. They just flew over my head and landed in a tree in the back. I've seen plenty of possums, but I don't remember seeing bats before.

We have bats at night and lorikeets during the day. It is never completely quiet anymore. *smothers herself with a pillow*
