Most cats have a “rake” reflex, i.e., if they have a grip on something, they’ll grab it with their forepaws and kick/scratch it quickly and repeatedly with their powerful hind legs. This is devastating to their prey and is one of their primary means of killing something they’ve caught (the other being to break its neck in their jaws).

We're home! The kitties are somewhat confused, but okay! Our hotel had a fire! Did I mention that bit?

Trying out a post on the iPad from the comfy chair in the den. While theoretically this is "my" chair, in practice Dasher uses it more than I do, as I'm usually at my computer. Gonna try a little iBook/Kindle reading while I'm here, as well. This may open up a whole new world of sitting comfortably around the house for me!

B & D are back up from under, with teeth scrubbed and gingivitis removed. A few of Dasher's teeth were not salvageable, alas, and had to be removed, but as soon as the anesthetic wore off his eyes went POINK! open and he immediately inhaled a bowl of food, so he's no worse for wear.
