Introduction

You might wonder why I'm using an icon from The Office in a journal entry all about Avatar. Well, read on.

"The Day of Black Sun" is capital "E" "Epic." I mean... WOW, right?! The most epic episode prior to this was "Siege of the North." And somehow, "The Day of Black Sun" is even more epic than that.

"Day of Black Sun" takes everything ( Read more... )

Pretty good! Although it would have been nice to see your debate towards Zutara on Katara's reaction. Maybe you can do that later? Although be nice! :D Me = Kataang/zutara lover!

That part near the end iwith Aang crying. Katara looked more like a sister. Thoughts?

Lol I know that look on Katara's face cause my bro does that right before he attacks me with pillows! XD

Aang and Katara pillow fight? !!!!! + Zuko!!!!!!!!!!!! EEEEEK!!

Sorry got carried away with zutara and kataang love! XD

She did not look more like a sister, when in the history of ever has KAtara looked at Sokka like that? Sokka and Katara are the brother/sister relationship here.

Please don't take this as rude, as rude as it may sound. Fox and I do not mind the idea of fanon Zutara, infact we both indulge in fanon ships. In fact I'd probibly have no problem with Zutara at all if it were not for the pervasive, and even obcessive belief that it's going to be canon.

The entire point of the post was to put the Kiss and episod in general into context. She was not sad because she did not reciprocate, she was sad because Aang was about to go off face the big bad Firelord and he may not come back.

As for your position that the look was sisterly, let me ask you when Katara has ever looked at Sokka like that?

*Note Fox has given me the privlage of anwsering questions such as this.

Oops sorry!
:D

I guess I just interpreted it differently. ;D Though I know you mean no offense and none is taken, just wait till the end of the season before you start saying which is gonna be cannon. Lol, I'm still wandering about the tophxsokka and sukixsokka. :D

Still whats your guys view on the zutara's fans debate?

My personal view of Zutara fan debates? That they are the biggest and grossest misinterpretations of canon In the last 10 years. Bigger than Harry/Hermione from Harry Potter, and that was big.

The reason for Fox's and a few other's confidence is because they have met with some of the writing staff at fan events and dispite the level of secrecy they are the biggest fandorks of their work and squee and are big shippy dorks like the rest of us.

Example: Back in July an ASN mod who's internet Tag is Hotspur talked to Bryan Koinetzko about how crazy us shippers are and that some of us are going to be dissapointed. He then went on to say that Mai and Zuko were great together and doesn't understand why fans don't like Mai.

In short, the creators are big shippy dorks and love their OTPs very much and put lots of work into making them awesome.

This, is why the internet was created. It was created so that awesome live-journal entries like this one could be made. Which is to say, yes to everything you said, with more specific commentary to come later.

All right, I've gone over this delightful little essay a couple more times, and I think I can make a few more specific comments. For instance, when you list the times when the Oma/Shu leitmotif is played, you missed one. It was in The Earth King when Aang is about to confess to Katara and is swiftly interrupted by Sokka. I don't hold it against you that you missed this one, since the music only played for a very brief period of time ( ... )

I think you're the only one who's referred to this as "little," cy. ;) ;)

Oooooh, most excellent! I was wondering if I was forgetting any instances. *Runs off to add it*

Second of all, I just love all the body language that you identified in Katara's confession, and the way this clearly communicates the subtext of the scene the way a straight read would miss completely.

I'm very glad they showed that body language. It helps tremendously!

Also, I can't get over Katara holding her kissing face well after Aang has ceased the kiss. She was just so into it, you know?

Me too! In fact, I-I still haven't gotten over like any of it at all?

There's just something about the structure of his face now that just makes him seem so much more mature nowRawles reported what her brother (who ( ... )

ME TOOOOOOOOOO.

AND I HAVE TO ADMIT I'VE BEEN KIND OF A CYNIC AND GOING, "BAH, THEY WON'T DO IT. THEY'LL PUT THEM TOGETHER IN THE BLOODY FINALE OR SOMETHING." BUT THEY BROKE THE TROPE!! JUST LIKE WHAT THEY DID WITH MAI/ZUKO AND JUST LIKE WHAT THE OFFICE DID WITH JIM/PAM.

GAH. I STILL HAVEN'T ADJUSTED TO THIS FACT. <3333

WOW - you just basically very effectively and objectively summed up everything I was thinking about the moments in "Day of Black Sun". I love how this doesn't carry the mark of "shipwank" or "OMGITOLDYOUSOWANKCANONWANK" that some people might write it as.

if I could, I'd like, karma you or something . . . I'm so adding it to my memories though. You PWN hard!
