My mother has a Rav-4 and it's awesome. You can fit a surprising amount of shit in it (I ran a museum exhibit last year and it suited my transportation needs very well). Toyotas are pretty much indestructible too, so there's that going for it.
My only problem with Rav-4's is Toyota's strange desire to market them in the same category as a Jeep or a Land Cruier, Land Rover or Xterra...
They're not offroading vehicles at all, they're light suvs and while they're brilliantly suited to what people typically use them for...their axle is the size of my thumb. I've pulled more than one out of the ditch that was ruined because someone thought it was a hardcore offroader since it has all wheel drive.
Apart from that it was the price tag that kept me away, they're a hell of a lot faster than my truck and I damn say a little more comfortable.
Sure? I don't watch Toyota commercials, so I'll go with your opinion. I also have no desire to go off-roading, or owning a vehicle that is any bigger than a Yaris.
