Does one of you review theater for a publication or something, or to you guys just really love seeing shows?

While we are unrepentant theater whores, beldar reviews plays, concerts and movies (mostly just plays, though) for an area paper. If he wasn't doing this, we'd be ushering at a lot of shows as I have really gotten spoiled by getting to see all of the area shows.

I just wanted to let you know that Dillan and I will not be at our church on Sunday because the choir will be performing at the Fist Baptist Church in Cumberland. (It is American Baptist, not Southern Baptist. I guess there is a difference. beldar, can you explain the difference to me?)

The SBC (Southern Baptist Convention, the governing body) split off from "Northern" baptist churches around the time of the Civil War. Missionary Baptists later split off from the SBC. There are Primitive Baptists who split off from Missionary Baptists, but I have a vague memory that there's a northern flavor of Primitive Baptists that isn't related to the southern ones ( ... )

A related thought: The baptists weren't the only church to split around the time of the Civil War. The methodists did it, too. (beldar and I have an ancestor who was an itinerant Southern Methodist preacher.)

But, that denomination eventually made up their differences and rejoined which is why it is now the United Methodist Church.

Wends, something has come up that *might* prevent me going to church with you guys. I only say *might* because I have yet to get a call back from the manager involved, and also I don't know when the service is. I'll write about what's up on my LJ in a sec.
