Personally, while I would appreciate the ability of the second sword's parrying ability, I would have to go with the first one. Not just because it is lighter, however. The added bonus was when you said that it was light enough to use one-handed, so I could have a second weapon in my left hand. That sealed the deal for me. It is astounding what you can do if you get proficient at all with attacking with your left. I never cease to be happy when that works.
Apart from period concerns (if you're doing a 15th c show, you can't use the mortuary: if you're doing 17th c, using the arming sword would look awful), it's a case of horses for courses. The Heron arming sword is excellent going up against a single spearman, for example, and works better in combination with a shield. But if you want to use a parry weapon, which can be less effective but is great fun, then the mortuary is the choice.
