The changes the usual December change had brought to the island this year were simply amazing. It was fascinating how things that were familiar had changed into something both new and yet still had a sense of their island selves

And of course, Lex dressed for the occasion himself. Sure, he felt a little dressed up to be tending bar but it was theme night so he just let it go. He had to admit, at the beginning of the month, it had taken him a bit of learning curve to get used to some of the different equipment and new liquors the change had brought to the Willows Room.
But it also gave him a chance to be creative and try new things. And by now, Lex had had plenty of practice so he was creating new drinks every night. Tonight was no different and he'd even created a cocktail to mark the occasion. Now just to find someone bold enough to try it.
To be honest, Xander didn't know what to make of this change in the island. And it had taken him a while to figure out exactly how the hell he was supposed to perform in such conditions. Though, his theme night performance had taken more thought then usual.
Still, he thought he'd found a good outfit and song for his act. The clothes were formal and yet not perfect for the song he'd picked. A song about discord, which he though worked given then uptight nature of the Victorian city.
After he'd performed, he changed into a more formal attire for the rest of the night, to blend in better with the crowd in the club.
Prior was feeling very fortunate after his close brush with what he'd thought was pneumonia. He still had a bit of a cough but it mostly stayed at bay if he stayed out of the cold.
This was all very fortunate because, despite it having been ages since he'd performed, there was an opportunity he really couldn't pass up: When the island had changed, his drag gowns had changed with it. Which meant that he had a couple of really gorgeous Victorian dresses, and some styled wigs. When Helen told him about the upcoming black and white theme at the newly-elegant Catscratch Club, he'd offered to do a number.
And so, downstairs at the club that night, he performed in full Victorian drag, singing "Black Velvet." He wasn't the best singer on the island, but he was a good performer, and he felt comfortable up on the stage.
When he was done, he took a bow and dramatically flipped open a black fan, fanning himself before he stepped down from the stage and back out into the crowd.
Attending a burlesque club in Victorian London is just not the sort of thing Marie feels that she can miss, when the opportunity arises. So she dresses for the Black and White theme and heads off toward Kennington to find this Catstratch Club.
She's not quite sure what to expect--she's been to burlesque shows in Montmartre enough times, even some that were decidedly nineteenth-century themed tributes to the Moulin Rouge--but even those aren't the real thing. Then again, this is only halfway the real thing either, since it's run by islanders in a magic, ghost-populated London.
Still, she settles into a velvet-draped booth to watch the show, and thinks she'll have no problem at all enjoying herself.
