The last time House had gotten drunk at the Winchester he'd ended up taking home a hot girl with good intentions but a serious lack of follow-through. This time it wasn't because he was expecting similar results, but rather for the simplest reason of all: His leg hurt

Gwen's actually planning on having lunch at the Winchester, more than anything else, but seeing House standing just outside makes her pause. She's only met him the once but it was pleasant enough, as such things went. It's not in her nature not to stop and ask about him and, if he needs something to go fetch it for him.

"Are you all right? Need...anything?"

"Annoyed? I don't know, maybe. And yeah, we're close. Were close. I used to sleep with him, too. And I chose Jack over him and he chose the Doctor over me. Clearly I got the raw end of that deal. How are you feeling?"

"Mmm, good," Gwen admits, voice low and soft and accent thickening. "Best I've felt since I showed up here on the island, actually. I don't feel guilty or miss home or anything, at least right now, and I'm hoping it lasts a little while. What about you?"

"Not bad," House admitted. "My leg still hurts but it always hurts. The company could be worse I guess. Have you not had sex since right after you came here?"

[ffyddlon]

"No," Gwen says easily. "Just the once. Hardly matters, though, I'm pretty sure I don't have the right parts for you, if Jack and Rob are your types. Though, Rob's very pretty...maybe I do have the right parts. How long has it been for you?"

"I wasn't propositioning you," House said, "I was making conversation." But then he turned his head and looked at her. "But if I was... I'm equal opportunity in the parts department. And it's been almost a year." Not counting the not-sex with Kate, which he wasn't.

"That's a bloody shame. There's nothing to do here but eat, sleep, drink and fuck...are you choosy, then?"

Gwen is, mostly. She likes to have an emotional connection with the person she's in bed with, even if it's just the first sparks of one.

"No," said House, "other people are. Are you?"

[ffyddlon]

"A little," Gwen concedes. "I like to know I can at least carry on a conversation with the person outside of bed. I don't really have too many partners at any one point. Aside from that, if you're intelligent and want to be with me, that's about all I need."

Alcohol was like the world's best confidence builder, really.

House leaned closer to her, mouth going near her ear, close enough to get the barest hint of stubble scratch against her skin.

"What about... if you're intelligent and have been wanting for months to make a woman climax?"

Gwen flushes slightly. She hadn't really expected that but now that it's happened, it feels nice. Good. She feels like someone other than the ghost of her former life.

"Oh, well. That'd about do it, I think."
