Slipping the fishnet fingerless gloves up her arm, Delirium hummed happily as she slid into comfortable and familiar clothes. The dress was sweet, pink but the rest of it was her. The fishnets, the boots stolen from a fallen angel and her family's silver sigils hanging around her hips rather than her neck tied to a rather colourful belt. She was ( Read more... )

Del looked up, staring at the woman before something inside of her twitched. A deep longing for the connection to who she was. She used to have such fun with them, well at least she could have fun again but in a different way.

"You dislike bears too? Perhaps you and Stephen should have started a club," Delirium said grinning madly at the woman.

"How do you know it did not love it back? Do you speak bear?" Delirium asked seriously though the smile did not drop or falter. People misunderstood Delirium, they underestimated her because of how she was. Even her siblings didn't realise quite how capable she was or what she could do.

Del finished the story of the Presidential Nominee, his girlish screams and the mad girl left giggling inside a bear costume in the middle of the jungle. It was a good story but all her stories about Stephen usually were. He had been hers and her mortals tended to have the best stories, the wildest and the weirdest.

"Shuya, ohayou." Del greeted smiling at the boy as the twins mimicked their mother in synch and greeted the boy. Delirium tried to teach them both as best she could but their minds were human and it would take time to learn all the languages of their mother. "You look much better. I'm glad. Are they treating you well here?"

Abby scowled, her face scrunching up as if she was about to kick up a fuss. Pulling Abby Celia up out of her chair onto her lap, Del wrapped her arms around Abby and held her. Now that she was included in the conversation she was happier even if she didn't understand them both.

"They are but you look... there's a word but I can't remember it. Like you're expecting everything to fall apart, like you're expecting a bomb to fall-" Del said pausing when she tried to remember it. "Dread. That's the word, you look like you're dreading something."

There was currently a fairly epic battle being fought, unbeknownst to the island at large. True, it was battle being fought solely by Johnny Maxwell, but it was still pretty epic. On the one side was the ever-present hunger of a thirteen year old boy, on the other was his mistrust of the woman making the food. There was no logical reason for him to be nervous, she was just a normal(ish) woman making normal(ish) food in a normal(ish) kitchen. Perfectly normal. Except when she wasn't. Johnny couldn't put his finger on it, but there was something about her that played at the edges of his brain, making him think of aliens and waking dreams and notes from professionals saying he was disturbed.

Appetite won in the end and he settled for trying to stick to the edges of the room in the hope that he could slip in, grab some toast, and slip out again without being noticed by anyone.

Delirium watched him, head tilted as she tried to figure out where she knew him from. Some days her memory was perfect, she remembered everything and it was too much and other days it was a patchwork quilt of remembered things and forgotten things. She felt like she had forgotten his name, not quite on the tip of her tongue and he smelled... timey.

"You smell timey," Delirium said before grinning madly at him. "People who stick to the outside of things draw more attention than those who throw themselves in. Did you know that?"

"No. No, I didn't, not really." Sticking to the edges of things was how Johnny got through life. Johnny the Invisible. Johnny the Overlooked. Johnny the One in the Background. Johnny who apparently smelled timey. The woman was beginning to remind him of Mrs. Tachyon now. "Umm... But that's how you get through it, by sticking to the edges.* You can't throw yourself in because then you just get swept along."

*He was talking about time. At least, he thought he was. Mostly.

"Well, maybe if you are you but if you are me then you just bend the world around you and let the water flow away or turn it into hippos and ribbons and cotton candy." Delirium said simply. Del smiled at him fairly madly. "Nothing sweeps me along anywhere I do not want to go."

Daniel, silent as always, toddled over to Ishiah and grabbed hold of his trouser leg. Tugging he looked up seriously at the man and held out his hands. Although Abby Celia was the most obvious about demanding attention, Daniel's subtle and more quiet ways often worked more with his mother.

"You're all hot and sweaty Ishiah," Delirium said looking at his head.

Daniel considered the question, the things in front of him before nodding. Daniel reached forward, taking a piece of pineapple in his chubby little fingers before chewing on it. Daniel sat happily on Ishiah's lap and smiled as much as he did smile at him.

"Exploring where? This realm is small and finite," Delirium asked. Delirium had wandered the island a couple of times, she wasn't made for stability or normality and staying in one place for too long. Her presence was supposed to change the world, so every so often she moved ran really from everything else. Trying to outrun herself before she would return to her new realm in the treehouse. "What do you hope to find?"

I missed being at home sometimes. At home, my mom would always cook huge meals and we'd eat together, as a family. Sometimes we fought (most of the time) but we always sat down for a meal together. When I wandered into the Compound kitchen and saw Del was cooking breakfast, I grinned and snatched an apple fritter.

"Hi, Del. How's it going?"

"Peachy keen," Del replied grinning like her oldest sister. Snapping her fingers together, Del vibrated in her seat excitedly and grinned a little more madly. "Robb Stark does not taste like winter. He tastes like lips, warm lips and nice but not winter. I thought he would be all frosty and brrr but he's not, he's all warm and firm."

"Did you kiss him?" I asked, a big grin on my face. That was the kind of thing I liked hearing in the morning. "Because if you did, score one for Del."

"I kissed him here," Del said pressing her fingertip to the corner of Molly's lips. "And he kissed me there."

Del moved her finger to Molly's actual lips and grinned. "And then, many scores to Del."
