It wasn’t very often that Cassie got the urge to watch a movie. She was a very active person, her hobby was a being a super hero so that probably would say something, but even she had the days where she wanted nothing more then to curl up on the couch and watching TV. And today was most definitely one of those days ( Read more... )

"Oh no," Sam said, freezing as he walked into the rec room. He had heard the loud explosions of an action movie and decided to duck his head in to see what was on. He had NOT expected to find himself up there on the screen. In the back of his mind Sam knew it was very possible that in some world he was part of a movie or game or comic book or something like that. He didn't like to think it and he tried to ignore the possibility but deep down he knew it was possible.

But that only slightly softened the blow of seeing himself on the screen, especially seeing himself dying. That wasn't something he had wanted anyone to see. He'd casually mentioned it to a few people, but that was different from someone seeing it.

"No, no, no, this can't be happening. This-"

That was when he saw who was watching the movie. If there was anyone on the island he didn't want to see that part of his life, it was Cassie. He just wanted her to like him for being a normal guy, not because he had saved the freaking planet.

"Oh shit."

Cassie was pissed. So beyond pissed that if she'd had her powers, she'd have been flying around the world a few times to calm down.

But even then, when Sam was killed trying to get to Optimus, she was crying. Not even her anger could overshadow how upset seeing Sam dead made her. Not when she knew Kon and Donna had limited time when she returned home. Did everyone around her die to early?

When she heard Sam behind her, she qucikly rubbed the tears out of her eyes before she stood up and rounded on him. "So...you had an alien robot for a car and you didn't think this was worth mentioning?"

Sam had never seen Cassie this pissed before, and he felt bad about having hid that part of his life from her. Then he remembered why he had, because she had said he was normal and boring, and the anger at least burned away some of the guilt.

"No, I didn't," Sam said, crossing his arms. "Should it matter if I have an alien car? Because I don't think it does. I don't think that changes the type person I am or anything like that. Why should I have mentioned it?"

"Why shouldn't you have mentioned it?" Cassie honestly couldn't believe what she was hearing. He was actually angry at her? Or was he angry at being found out... "I'd say that's a pretty big thing to leave out! Did you not think I'd handle it well? Did you forget about my superpowers? That I showed you when you came home with me?!"

She had to take a deep breath to compose herself again and stop herself before she started yelling. "If you didn't feel the need to mention this, I have to wonder what else you haven't told me..."

McCoy's aware that it's not really a good time to be drunk, but he's done this spiral of shame before. He knows that when you don't give a shit about anything, there's no bad time to start. He's slightly off-kilter by the time he wanders to the Compound for food and that's where he sees Cassie. "What the hell're you doing?" he asks, a bit slurred.

Cassie was in the middle of another muttered rant about Mikela when McCoy startled her. She sits up and narrows her eyes at him as she realizes something is very off. "I'm watching a movie, what does it look like I'm doing?"

Then it hit her. "Are you drunk?!"

"Close as it as I can get without feeling ashamed about it at this hour of the day," McCoy agrees without much shame in his voice at all. After all, he's only buzzed. Maybe come noon, he'll be really drunk. "What kind of movie, is what I want to know."

"It's before noon. Why are you drinking this early?" Cassie got the appeal to drink, she'd done it here on the island herself. But this early in the day couldn't be good and now she was worried about him.

She glanced up at the screen and made a face. "A movie with someone I thought I knew in it." Someone she thought was going to finally fill the void Chekov and Kon had left.

"What are you watching?" Coraline asked curiously, leaning over the couch as she looked at Cassie. Hair falling in her eyes Coraline looked up at the sound of a familiar voice before she fell in surprise. Landing awkwardly half on the couch, half dangling off it Coraline pointed and squeaked. "That's Sam! Who's the weird girl? Is Sam a... IS THAT A ROBOT? Sam has a robot! And he didn't tell!"

"Transformers. The second one." Cassie said absently to Coraline's first question, her eyes not leaving the screen.

Then her voice got dark. "Yes. That's Sam. And that's his girlfriend, Mikela. And yes. That's his alien robot car. Named Bumblebee." Finally, she turned to look at her younger friend. "He didn't tell you either? Kinda a lot to leave out isn't?"

It was clear how not happy Cassie was at the moment.

"I think I would remember him talking to me about a car that transforms into a giant robot." Coraline said. That was definitely the type of thing that Coraline would remember Sam talking about. And he'd definitely remember him talking about a girlfriend with really weird lips who looked... um, like a Scarlet Woman. "I guess so. Maybe he was just scared to tell you in case you thought he was weird. Most people look at me weirdly when I tell them about the Other Mother."

Cassie blinked and stared at Coraline, making sure she'd heard that right.

"He told you about the car? When?"

She couldn't believe it. If Sam had hid this from everyone that would be one thing, but clearly he was just keeping it from her. Why would he do that? Was this some sick joke?

Then she shook her head. "He came home with me during that last time the island made people dream about home. He saw my super powers! I think I can handle a robot car!"

Cassie's head shot up when Zell remarked, rather loudly, about how hot Mikela was. If she wasn't gripping the couch cushions for dear life, she probably would have hit Zell. With the pillow or with her fist was the question.

"Yeah. That's Sam's girlfriend back home. With his alien robot car. Apparently, the bookshelf decided to show me where he was from."

Without considering any reason why she shouldn't, Cassie chucked a couch cushion at his head. Hard. "She's not that hot." She grumbled to herself. She realized she should argue the fact that, on the island, she was Sam's girlfriend but she was beginning to wonder about that...

"Two." And Zell was lucky she hadn't chucked one of the movie reels at him.

As if Cassie wasn't in a bad mood already. When she heard Luke's voice behind her, she groaned and rolled her eyes. "Can you please not be here? Now?" Because really, having the guy who threatened to kill her because of her dad, who she still wasn't really acknowledging as her dad, was just what she needed after finding out her boyfriend had essentially been lying to him.

"Yes, you turn my whole life upside down and threaten to kill me. I'd say that's more then just a 'comic book thing' don't you say?" Cassie spat out, really not in any mood to be diplomatic. Diana would be appalled.

She didn't want to answer, but she knew Sam and Luke knew each other. "Yeah, it is. Apparently he has two movie about him and his robot car." Alright so perhaps not all of her diplomacy had left her, even if her tone was icy cold.
