"Bobo! Bobo, slow down!" Coraline yelled loudly as she chased after the illusive Bobo. Jumping over a tree root, Coraline skidded onto the boardwalk and stumbled before running straight down the path towards the beach. Coraline shouted again, watching as the golden coloured Bobo sped towards the water at a quick pace. "No, no, no, no! Don't go in ( Read more... )

Felicity's surfing class was over for the day, but she liked the idea that she was getting much better at it. Maybe not to the talent of her teacher, but certainly skilled enough that she could stand to try it out outside of class. Her wetsuit from the class was still a little damp, but she had an extra and was about to head into the ocean when she saw Coraline and her new puppy.

The surfboard was nearly forgotten as the puppy forgot about whatever he was chasing and bound himself at her, making her shriek as she fell back onto the sand.

Bobo ran straight for Flick, recognising her smell from the homestead. Barking happily at her he bounced up as she fell backwards. He was only a little thing but he certainly had as much energy as his owner.

"Bobo! Don't knock Felicity over," Coraline yelled running towards Flick and her errant puppy who was trying to lick Felicity's face. "You need a hand?"

It wasn't that Felicity didn't mind when Bobo started licking her, but this close to her face was a bit much-his breath stank.

She tried holding the puppy at arms length, but the little guy was heavy and squirmy and she could barely hold onto him for laughing. It also didn't help that his wet fur made it hard for her to hold onto him.

"I'm fine." She called out, a little relieved as the puppy started towards Coraline, seemingly having a difficult time deciding on who to play with first. Felicity used the distraction to stand up.

"For a small puppy, I don't know where he gets all that energy."

Coraline clicked, whistling for Bobo as he trotted over to her before bounding over and throwing himself at Coraline. Coraline picked up Bobo and scratched his ears happily.

"Me either. Guess he takes after me," Coraline said as he licked her face. Coraline had to say with her puppy being so active, she had slept a lot better. She was too tired to have nightmares. "I don't think Cat likes him. I don't know though, Cat just glares at everyone."

"Fuck me sideways, that's a beast." Now wasn't a time for eloquence. Now was the time to get the fuck up and run.

When the dog sped up, the crab sped up and it was heading straight for Hank. A Hank with nothing but black boxer briefs and a purple t-shirt to protect him. Digging his heels into the sand, he scrambled to his feet and sprinted for the girl, diving behind her like she was a human shield.

"Bobo maim!" He yelled, peering around her. "Bobo kill!"

Bobo barked chasing after the crab who scuttled towards the tree line. Coraline watched as Hank dove behind her.

"Don't worry I'll protect you from crabs," Coraline said whistling loudly. Bobo turned his head, ears sticking up before he ran back towards Coraline. Tongue dangling out of his mouth Coraline giggled. Her dog was pretty awesome even if he was a little goofy. "But don't encourage him to kill. I'm not cleaning up dead crab, that's gross."

"That could be tasty," Hank decided after a moment of consideration, wiggling his toes as the dog licked at them. Only then did his memory trigger.

He frowned deeply, looking down at his feet. "Aw, shit." His nails were well and truly screwed. Wet sandy varnish was not a good look.

"It could be very smelly," Coraline replied watching Bobo lick the man's toes. Coraline groaned and pulled him away before noticing the polish. Coraline grinned up at him. "Were you painting your toes? On the beach? Where did you get the polish? Do you still have some? Can I have some?"

Sawyer was never much of a fan of dogs. He didn't dislike them, precisely. All it came down to was the fact that once upon a time, back when he was still Jimmy Ford, he'd wanted a dog of his own. Saw the fellow boys in the area running around with golden retrievers, some raising them from when they were tiny little puppies, then watching them shoot up, some outgrowing their owners. He remembered a period of months when he dang well asked for six months straight, whether he could get a dog, only to have his father turn him down time and time again. They didn't have the time to watch over a dog, money was tight, why couldn't James content himself with his large collection of toy cars and train tracks instead ( ... )

Bobo barked at the crab, turning his head as he saw the new human approach his smaller one. Barking at Sawyer Bobo turned and ran after him, his tail wagging eagerly.

"I'm not scared of a crab, they just make me uncomfortable like spiders." Coraline said sticking her tongue out at Sawyer. It was the legs. That and the fact most of the island crabs were bigger than her head. That wasn't normal. "And I'm not little. I'm tall so there."

Coraline picked up Bobo, as he yapped at Sawyer protectively. "Bobo, don't bark at Qui-Gon that's not nice. Have you met my puppy? Danny gave me him, he said if I look after myself and Bobo then he'll talk to the council about me living on my own. Isn't that cool?"

Sawyer knelt down on the sand, watching the dog approach him at a bounding pace, and nearly holding out a hand to pet the little thing. Only then he was suddenly being barked at, yipped at, and Sawyer gave the dog a wrinkle of his nose before he got back to his feet again. Fine, so the dog didn't want any love. No problem with him. Kids and puppies were too much damn trouble anyway.

Stuffing his hands in his pockets, Sawyer raised a brow, his lips curved in a teasing smirk. "Uh-huh. They just make you uncomfortable, huh," Sawyer quipped, snorting. "Y'know, lotsa people get in trouble for sayin' things like that and not just ownin' up to the fact that they're scared. I think you're crabist and crabphobic, Coraline."

He threaded his fingers through his hair, shaking it out in the slight ocean breeze. "And you're definitely little. Don't matter how tall you grow, you're still a kid, and that makes you little."

Coraline stroked the squirming puppy who settled when he knew she wasn't in any danger. Coraline put Bobo down on the ground letting him pad towards Sawyer who sniffed at him curiously.

"I am not crabphobic. They're just really creepy. Have you seen the size of them here? They're huge and they have these horrible legs. And there's this one crab, I think it's evil. It's always there whenever I try to come to the beach to have fun." Coraline said making a face before she nudged Sawyer. She knew he was teasing her but that still didn't stop her from taking the bait. "I am not. I'm fourteen in a month and thirty days. That means I'm not a kid. And when I live on my own I'll be a grown up and everything."
