During her time at Dunder Mifflin Scranton, Karen had done a lot of stupid things. Moving there just for Jim had been toward the top of the list, as was trying to make herself believe he wasn't really in love with Pam, he just had a crush on her. Still, Jim and Pam had turned into two of her best friends, and she still missed them an incredible ( Read more... )

"Shelf trouble?" Eduardo asks, his eyebrows raising, having been headed in that direction himself. It's one of the first things he managed to pick up on here, how the bookshelf has a way of trying to mess with people's heads, his own included, but at least she doesn't seem to be actually upset by it. Still, it can't hurt to ask, especially when he's sure he won't find what he's looking for there. (He skims, most days, to see if he can't find anything about Facebook, something more about its future that he hasn't managed to pick up from one of the people he knows who come from a time later than his.) "Or was that a 'no' of something else?"

"That was a 'no' of 'I can't believe my former boss's terrible home made movie is here," Karen replied, excited to share the news despite not knowing who had just done the asking. She grinned up at the guy, hugging the reel to her chest.

"That's... wow," Eduardo says, his eyes widening, though he can't help the crooked smile that lifts one corner of his mouth at the prospect. He knows neither her nor her former boss, but that at least sounds a whole lot more appealing than most of what the bookshelf gives, and looking at her now, she seems pretty pleased. "Like, an actual movie?"

"I don't know if you could call it an actual movie," Karen mused. While she hadn't seen the finished product, she was a part of it, for better or worse. (Probably worse.) "But I haven't actually seen the finished product yet."

"Yes?" he countered, as he came to a stop behind her. Gideon'd had a similar idea - though he was looking for good shit, obviously - but decided seeing what she found might be a better idea. Tilting his head to read the reel, he asked, "Threat Level Midnight? The fuck is that?"

"It's a movie my former boss made," Karen said, knowing Gideon probably wouldn't appreciate it as much as she did, considering it featured Jim. "It's got Jim and Pam and everyone from home in it."

"A movie?" he asked, raising a brow. With his clone, no less. That he had to fucking see, just to see how bad it was. Expectantly, he asked, "So, what are we fucking waiting for? When are we watching?"

Karen laughed, and headed over to the projector, motioning for Gideon to sit down on the couch as she set the reel up. "If I remember anything about the one day of filming I did for it, we're in for a hilarious hour or two."

Stephen was sitting nearby, doing a crossword puzzle. In the way that meant he was writing in his own answers and ignoring the hints and clues given.

When she spoke, he glanced over before turning back to the paper. Ah, if he drew an extra box, bears are evil would fit perfectly in that spot...

"Did you find porn?" he asked absentmindedly.

"What?" Karen turned around at the question, unsurprised to see Stephen there. She'd been aware of him being on the island, mostly in a 'hey, that's Stephen Colbert' kind of way. "No, it's not porn. Thank God."

"Is it a video of your husband marrying someone else?" Stephen asked, deciding he was slightly interested now. He set his puzzle down and everything.

"No," Karen said, making a face. She hadn't really thought of that before, and while she didn't make a habit out of looking for reels with Nick in them, she wasn't sure she ever would. "No, it's a sort...home movie someone I know made back home. At least, I think it is."

Nick should have known better than to leave Karen to her own devices in the rec room. It usually wound up with her finding film reels that should probably best be left alone. Sometimes, it resulted in hilarity, but still. Getting your hopes up on the island wasn't always a good plan.

So when he walked back into the room, hearing Karen's little 'no,' he stopped short, cocking his head to peer at what she was looking at.

"Good 'no' or shouldn't-have-seen-this 'no'?" he asked. He was far too familiar with the latter.

"Good," Karen replied, spinning around with the reel hugged to her chest. "At least, I'm pretty sure it's going to be good. Hugely embarrassing for all involved, but fun to watch."

"That's the best kind, isn't it?" Nick asked. He peered at the reel, trying to make out what it was. "Well? Going to share with the rest of the class? What'd you find this time?"

Hopefully the embarrassing factor would be limited to other people, not them. Nick had far too many embarrassing moments of his own, thanks to the rec room's sense of humor.

"It's a movie my old boss made," Karen said, holding the reel up so Nick could read the title, "and one I was dumb enough to say I'd be a part of. Jim and Pam and everyone should be in it, too."
