The space station hung in space above the world, a white dot in an expanse of blackness, a mirror to the islands below, swallowed up and surrounded by blue ocean as they were. Inside, it bustled with fresh motion as people walked, talked, worked; every few minutes, in rooms and corridors, someone passed the hidden mechanisms of an Aperture Science

Once again, Tony's voice sounded throughout the station. "Those of you still here, I am now in control of this station. There's only a few minutes until we hit, and less than that before the exit portal closes. All the traps are off, the doors are open, but there's nothing I can do about the zombies. Get out, and get out now. And mind your step. I'm about to up-end this entire death-trap."
A few minutes later, the death-trap... up-ended. The station jerked, shaking even harder than it had been as one side lifted, the entire structure tipped, turned on its side.

"I don't blame you," it said weakly before the voice stopped forever.
"Zell," Cable said when he looked up, "lets get out of here."

"No," he said calmly and drew the silver psimitar he had in his belt. (Cable always had numerous weapons on him, it was one of his defining features.)
And then he stabbed it into what had once been the floor and, after gestering Zell to hold the other end, grabbed it like a bar. Then he used all his strength, and the strength of the futuristic metal his spear was made from, to pull himself up into a handstand and then lower his legs into the doorway.
From there he could give Zell a hand up without having to worry about having broken his back to get him there.
"Pass the psimatar up first," he urged as he let go of it with his hands and dragged himself backwards into the doorway.

He actually thought he'd make it. There was the portal, in front of him, and he managed to find another burst of speed from somewhere. Except right about then was when he found out what Tony Stark had meant by up-end. He was thrown from his feet as everything went sideways. He had a split second to register the fact that he was now falling toward the portal - really fast - before he erupted into daylight.
Flying through the air after going through a space-bending portal thing was also, unfortunately, familiar. The impact sucked. He hit well away from the portal, and he hit badly. Pain exploded in his right leg. He ( ... )

He tried to look at the woman tending him, but her face kinda swam and blurred. What he could see, though, was almost a distraction from the pain. “... Sam?” Since when did Sam have dark hair and an accent? Damn, how hard had he hit his head?

"Dr. Helen Magnus," she offered instead, feeling around the bone. "Appears to be a clean break. I should be able to splint it without moving the bone."

He gritted his teeth as she examined his leg. “Oh good,” he choked with what was almost a laugh. “Not moving it. That sounds good.”

Memory flitted through his brain and he chuckled slightly, the pain giving a slightly hysterical edge to the sound. “Not the first time I've done something like this. Didn't break anything the first time, though.”
