I have to admit, I had wondered whether I was tempting fate by hosting a party on Halloween. Sure, the last Halloween had been mostly harmless and Tony and Pepper's party had gone off without a hitch. But I'd been on the island far too long to trust in its benevolence

Bart was working very hard to do his best brood in the shadows Robin look. That the cape got in the way even after practicing for hours with Cissie, and there was no helping the sequined shortpants and pixie boots. He was just glad he didn't have goosebumps on his too-bare legs.

But the Robin look was probably ruined by the plate of food and the slight smirk as he looked around at other people in uncomfortable costumes. He couldn't really help eating, it was a speedster's habit.

[OOC: Bart is dressed as the original Robin in pixie boots and scaley panties. Feel free to mock or commiserate as suits. He's even tried to dye his hair temporarily black for the occasion.]

"There was another Robin who wanted me to change my costume," Bart said, smirking. "It's not like Rob would mind, exactly. Although if I were really going for the urban legend, I'd need glowing eyes or something."

"No, I suppose not," Cissie said, considering. "At least Dick, anyway. Tim's... Tim, you know."

"And hey, that reminds me. Did you think ahead and have an extra mask on underneath? Just in case someone pulls off your mask?"

"Spirit gum's a little hard to get here, but yeah, I'm prepared. I even have a backup for my backup in my jerkin," Bart said, laughing. "But if I do get unmasked, I could always play the pretending to be Robin card."

"See, you're totally thinking like a Robin," Cissie giggled, entirely too amused. "Dick and Tim'd be so proud. And just remember, if you do get yourself unmasked, you're Alvin Draper. Or something."

"As long as they don't know Alvie is on Interpol's watchlist," Bart said, laughing a little. "Something about a museum robbery. Tim told me he was just looking, but when the alarms got triggered, he had to take it so he could finish some tests. The artifact was returned."

Cissie shook her head with a snort. "Oh, why does that not surprise me? That's Tim for you, all over."

The music changed to something a bit more slower and Cissie hesitated a moment before channeling a bit of Wonder Girl's braveness. "So, um... you want to dance?"

Bart ducked his head, blushing a little at the question. "If you want to risk being part of a pile-up when I trip over the cape again, I think we can manage something."

"It won't be that bad," Cissie said, giving him a shy smile. "I promise. And if you trip, I will keep you from falling. Or shout a 'Holy Hera' and get the attention off you or something."

[slowspeedster]

"Not 'Merciful Zeus?'" Bart teased. "I never did understand that one. Wonder Woman doesn't really use that much anymore, even."

He took a moment to adjust the cape, then offered Cissie his arm. "As long as you promise to rescue me in case of utter humiliation."

"I asked Cassie once and she said it was a Wonder thing, for what it's worth. So I just ran with it," Cissie said as she accepted Bart's arm.

"Of course I will. We're a team, remember? No Boy Wonders will be embarrassing themselves on my watch."

"Don't you remember Mister Sarcastic?" Bart asked, curious.

"How do you mean?" Cissie tilted her head, confused.

[slowspeedster]

"Oh, right, that was after you'd left, wasn't it?" Bart said, remembering. "There was supposed to be this whole Young Justice reality show, but Batman said Robin couldn't be in it, and Secret was all upset because she hated it when Tim left before, and the idea of not seeing him because of the cameras..." He trailed off, trying to think how to explain it.

"Well, since Robin couldn't publicly be a member of the team, he came up with this new identity. I think he modeled his attitude off the way Kon used to be."

"Oh my god!" Cissie exclaimed, covering her mouth with her hand in an attempt to keep from laughing too loudly. "I'm almost afraid to imagine what he was like... and I'm kind of sorry I missed it."

She shook her head, a few giggles escaping. "Mister Sarcastic. Oh, Tim!"

"I'll have to find you the comic," Bart said, smirking. "Even if it doesn't do the world justice, it's as close as we can get to home."
