There were things on the island that didn't happen very often and when they did they devestated everything and everyone in their path. Like the hurricane that had destroyed peoples homes or the bad people that came and hurt people or the island kidnapping people and leaving them stuck in dinosaur territory or like the teenager in a mood hellbent on ( Read more... )

Juliet was used to rain, but she wasn't exactly used to pieces of wood falling from the sky and as an IPD officer, she couldn't just overlook the crime. Even if, when she looked up, it didn't appear to be someone she could arrest (or could she? She had to double-check that when she got back to the office). "You might be more careful," she warned. "You might hit someone."

Coraline wiped her eyes stubbornly, pulling bits of wrecked wood down and throwing them down below. She didn't see Miss Juliet until she called up. Coraline huffed, in part anger and part frustration. She didn't want to harm anyone, she was just- it was so unfair!

"Sorry," Coraline said sullenly, frowning as she threw another piece down away from Juliet and into an empty space. "I didn't see you there. I'll put up a sign."

"Or maybe you could stop throwing things?" she suggested, seeing as that was a better solution to her than just a sign was. "I mean, I wouldn't bring you in and arrest you, but I'm pretty that it might be a demerit on a points system if you kept throwing things," she said, absolutely sincere and serious to Coraline.

"How else am I supposed to get the broken bits away? Climb down every single time, that's just stupid." Coraline said sulkily. She was going to throw down another piece just because when Juliet said something about arresting her. Was she serious? Adam would kill her. "I didn't think throwing things was against the law."

I was feeling very alone. Things had already been difficult before Luke's arrival, with Annabeth so awkward. And then to have Thalia run out on me, just leave me there with Luke? Suddenly, I felt as though I couldn't count on my friends as much as I had counted on them.

I could go back to my hut and spend some time with Mrs. O'Leary, of course, but I was in the sort of mood where, though I was alone, I didn't particularly want company. I kicked at a stone with more force than I'd intended. It skittered up the pathway and smacked the trunk of a tree.

Then something dropped from the tree and whacked me in the head. I stumbled, and rubbed my scalp. "Ow!"

Coraline hadn't meant to hit Percy on the head. She hadn't really even noticed him to be honest which was very unlike Coraline. But she had hit him which on some level made her smile even when she was not noticing Percy, she still managed to get the jump on him.

"Sorry, Percy." Coraline said, pulling and kicking at another plank of wood until it came free and fell noisily to the ground away from Percy. "I didn't see you there. You shouldn't walk under people's treehouses though when they're demolishing them. It's very dangerous."

I rubbed my head and glared. "I'll keep that in mind, thanks," I said. Then my brow furrowed. "Wait, why are you demolishing your treehouse?"

"It's ruined," Coraline said simply. Everything she had stored in there, all her treasures and bits of artwork were ruined. The one place she had to get away from it all was gone. She hated the island. "The storm got most of it. I'm just finishing the job. And it's not like Adam has any time now to fix it."

Not that she didn't love her little sister because she did. She just missed it being just her and Adam.

James was lost. He'd wandered off of the beaten boardwalks. Instead of turning around and going back in the same direction from which he'd started, he wound up wandering in circles. Now all of the trees had started to look familiar. If Jessie and Meowth had been there, then he would have at least had some company. If he had any of his Pokemon, he could have used them to find the way back. Even if he'd been following those twerp kids, he would have at least heard them arguing by now ( ... )

Coraline scowled, looking down from the platform where the remains of her treehouse was and put her hands on her hips. Her eyes widened a little, her gaze softening as she realised who she had hit. Coraline had just almost taken out one of the High School Musical Cast Members. Today, was officially the worst day on record. The only way it could get worse was if Jacob came and told her he, like Edmund, liked boys or even worse he liked Edmund.

"Sorry!" Coraline shouted down, her voice sharper than she intended. She was just so annoyed, it was so unfair. "You should watch where you're going or pay attention. I mean, what if I had been a ninja trying to hurt you?

Coraline had an excellent question. James paused and considered this for a moment, his expression one of thoughtful contemplation and slight confusion. At least he seemed to resolve the issue. "I don't think any ninjas are stalking me. I haven't seen any." His response was a little sassy as if he knew better than she did. Though once he'd said it, he realized if there were ninjas stalking him, of course he hadn't seen them. He ignored this fact.

"What are you doing up there?" he asked, moving on from the ninja topic.

"Of course you wouldn't they're ninjas, they're stealthier than Harry Potter in an invisibility cloak." Coraline said simply. Though Harry wasn't exactly stealth personified even with the invisibility cloak. Coraline sighed thinking about Harry Potter and Bill and the fact everyone was treating her like a stupid child. "My treehouse got ruined so I'm taking the rest of it down. There's no point in having it here if I can't use it."

Morgan's walking off the mild strain of his jog, most of it in his knee, that constant reminder that he can only push himself so far. He doesn't always listen to it, especially when Jacob's running next to him or he just has a lot on his mind: hurricanes and empty rooms and dead men whose hands he can shake after the fact. Life as usual on the island.

He's still lost in it, when the plank drops into view, close enough to his face to startle him into smacking it away. "Hey watch it," he calls irritably, looking up to catch who threw it. Finding a young girl in the tree has him frowning at his tone, but not quite apologizing for it. "You alright up there," he asks instead.

Coraline paused, blinking slowly before she leaned over and peered down through the branches. She hadn't meant to hurt anyone, she was just annoyed and frustrated. It was just so unfair. All she wanted to do was say No, that she wasn't okay and that she hated the island and cry but she wasn't supposed to do those things anymore. Coraline was thirteen now, she was supposed to be a grown up except that none of the grown ups ever treated her like one unless it suited them.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't looking. It didn't hit you, did it?" Coraline asked curiously. She hoped it hadn't or Adam would tell her off for skipping class and for assaulting someone. "I'm fine, I'm just taking my treehouse down. It's- it's ruined."

"I'm good," he assures her, gesturing with the arm he'd blocked the plank with. He's had a lot worse than the debris of teenage renovations tossed at him. Taking a few steps back, he can better see what she's doing up there, the leftovers of the structure and the obvious damage to it. "The storm," he asks sympathetically, thinking of the minimal repairs he and Jacob were still finishing up on the Homestead.

"Think there's room up there for me to help," Morgan offers, flashing her a smile. His knee probably won't appreciate scaling trees as a break from his run, but it isn't so bad he's going to leave her to pick the place apart on her own.

"Yeah, the hut was okay but not- not here. Everything's gone," Coraline said. The little things that Glitch had given her, the things she'd made for Cain and Lucy. Bits of herself that she had kept safe and now they were gone. It just made her feel so angry and sad and frustrated all at once. "I don't know, you're really big."

Coraline's sulky scowl brightened a little, her lips turning upwards in a small smile at the little tease. "I think there might be a little room."

Late afternoons on Mondays were the busiest for Felicity as she had four classes scheduled for that day, so when she did have a break, she wanted to get as far from the compound as she could.

Such was the reason she was walking aroung, when a plank of wood fell at her feet, breaking her from her daydream (she was a famous swordswoman).

"Hey!" she called out, looking up and finding Coraline through the trees. "You almost hit me." Indeed, a few inches closer and the board would've come down on her head.

Coraline looked down. Part of her wanted to sulk and say so what, the other part was horrified that she had almost hit Felicity.

"Sorry Flick, I mean Felicity." Coraline shouted down. Coraline huffed, blowing a piece of hair out of her face before she threw down another piece of wood. This piece though was aimed far away from Felicity. "It didn't hit you though, did it?"

The corner of her mouth twitched up. Where did she come up with the nickname 'Flick'?

"No, thank goodness." She moved aside as Coraline threw down another piece of wood.

"Coraline," It came to her. "This is the hurricane's doing, isn't it."

"No, some aliens came down and destroyed my hut because apparently I have the force and they want to stop me from blowing up their big spherical spaceship." Coraline said seriously. Pulling her knees up, Coraline shifted from the branch to the platform that had held her treehouse. "Ahuh. Of course, it was. Stupid island with its stupid weather ruining the only place I can go to get away from... ugh... everything!"
