There were things on the island that didn't happen very often and when they did they devestated everything and everyone in their path. Like the hurricane that had destroyed peoples homes or the bad people that came and hurt people or the island kidnapping people and leaving them stuck in dinosaur territory or like the teenager in a mood hellbent on ( Read more... )

Late afternoons on Mondays were the busiest for Felicity as she had four classes scheduled for that day, so when she did have a break, she wanted to get as far from the compound as she could.

Such was the reason she was walking aroung, when a plank of wood fell at her feet, breaking her from her daydream (she was a famous swordswoman).

"Hey!" she called out, looking up and finding Coraline through the trees. "You almost hit me." Indeed, a few inches closer and the board would've come down on her head.

Coraline looked down. Part of her wanted to sulk and say so what, the other part was horrified that she had almost hit Felicity.

"Sorry Flick, I mean Felicity." Coraline shouted down. Coraline huffed, blowing a piece of hair out of her face before she threw down another piece of wood. This piece though was aimed far away from Felicity. "It didn't hit you though, did it?"

The corner of her mouth twitched up. Where did she come up with the nickname 'Flick'?

"No, thank goodness." She moved aside as Coraline threw down another piece of wood.

"Coraline," It came to her. "This is the hurricane's doing, isn't it."

"No, some aliens came down and destroyed my hut because apparently I have the force and they want to stop me from blowing up their big spherical spaceship." Coraline said seriously. Pulling her knees up, Coraline shifted from the branch to the platform that had held her treehouse. "Ahuh. Of course, it was. Stupid island with its stupid weather ruining the only place I can go to get away from... ugh... everything!"

Felicity rolled her eyes. She could understand being mad at something and wanting to throw it away-she felt the same about a lot of projects back home. Still, making up stories about it never got one anywhere.

She started to climb up the tree to join her. "Do you know anyone who could fix it, besides Adam I mean?" Most of the huts had recieved some damage, but a majority of it was just lost roof shingles.

"I guess but everyone is so busy fixing houses and huts, I can't ask them to fix this for me." Coraline said simply, waiting for Felicity to climb up to her. "That would be... selfish of me."

Felicity found an area where she could fit herself between two strong tree limbs.

"But it's been a week since the hurricane, surely some of the crew could spare themselves a member by now, if you ask nicely."

She started pulling off some of the more damaged and loose blanks of wood, mindful of splinters and loose nails.

"I know but as long as people don't have homes then its just not right to ask. I don't mind, I'd rather not be a bother." Coraline said glumly. She'd lost her place but more importantly she'd lost things she'd made and could never replace. Things she'd given to people and had returned once they left the island. "I'll ask later when I know everyone has homes again."

She could understand that. People without homes needed the work crew more than a teenager needed a treehouse that she didn't really live in.

"Is there anything you could save?" It was hard to tell among the wreckage.
