So little had actually happened in the past month, but as far as Terry's concerned, it's more than enough. Between losing her voice and Wade showing up, she could use a few weeks of quiet. Thanks to the latter, though, she doesn't believe that will ever happen. The last thing her life is ever going to be is boring, with Wade around. Vaguely, Terry ( Read more... )

"Hello Theresa," Cable greeted her mildly as he entered the kitchen himself and started brewing some coffee. It wasn't a patch on what Professor used to make, of course, but he made do. With typical presumption, he then brought out a second cup without asking if it was required. "Do you need a hand?"

"If you don't mind getting your hands dirty, I could use one," she replies, giving Cable a smile over her shoulder. He looks about as much at home in the kitchen drinking coffee as he does out in the field shooting at people.

"I've never minded getting my hands dirty," Cable replied as he walked over to join her, if only because he felt he would regret missing an opening that obvious if he didn't. "And I happen to have a couple of minutes to fill."

He grabbed a vegetable as he talked and started rinsing it while his coffee brewed. And he tried not to think about how domestic he'd apparently become.

Terry rolls her eyes, realizing she walked right into that one. "I'm feeling a little anxious about the both of us being here with Wade nowhere in sight," she admits.

It was a miracle he hadn't killed anyone yet. That she's heard of.

There were times that Jamie could almost pretend things were normal between he and Theresa, and those times tended to correspond with any occasion that she was doing something completely foreign to their life back in the real world. X-Factor Investigations had never had a garden, and the whole scenario he'd just walked in on was so startlingly mundane that it was easy to forget, if only for a moment, how messed up their lives used to be.

"You got a little..." started Jamie, gesturing to his own face in lieu of hers, though there was nothing there save for the tattoo.

"I have what?" Terry looks over at Jamie, giving him a blank look before realizing he isn't pointing to his tattoo so much as trying to tell her she has something on her face.

She tries rubbing at her face with the back of her hand, then wrinkles her nose when it's about as effective as she imagined. "I'll get it later, I'm going to need a shower anyway."

Do not picture her naked, Madrox. Layla might not have Monet's strength and the Island might not have much in the way of windows, but that doesn't mean much in the face of a woman scorned. Besides, that ship sailed a long time ago, for reasons I'll never entirely resolve, regardless of therapy.

He hummed his agreement and leaned against the counter, his arms crossed over his chest. "Do you... want some help?" he asked, his usual awkwardness returning now that his initial surprise had worn off. "I grew up on a farm."

"I always forget that about you," Terry says, moving over a little to give Jamie space. "Here, you can separate the vegetables and put them away when I'm done cleaning."

I had come for coffee and run into Terry. We probably needed to talk, though I had no idea what the hell I should be saying, or if I should be apologizing or what the hell I should be doing.

I didn't know what the hell I should be doing overall, though, so that was nothing new.

"Hey," I said, looking into the basket and checking out the tomatoes, because for some reason, I was really hungry for a salad.

"Hey, Remy," Terry replies, shaking off a few newly rinsed carrots before setting aside on the counter. "You can grab one, if you want."

"Thanks," I said, and went to the other side of the sink to rinse off the small tomato. "You look like you've been out there for ages, don't you get hot?"

"I do, but I don't find it so bad," Terry replies, moving over a bit to make room for Remy. "Aloe vera and big, floppy hats have become my best friend. And I just duck inside for a few minutes if I need to."

He's fresh from the shower, skin still warm and a little damp, t-shirt clinging across his shoulders as he walks up behind her and presses smoothly against her back, head dipping to brush a kiss against the side of her neck.

"You look extremely fucking content."

"I am," she replies, leaning back against Brad, and if she wasn't before, she is now. "I've had a lovely morning."

His smooths his bandaged hand against her belly, kissing the side of her neck again.

"You were gone when I woke up," he points out. "Is that what I get for sleeping late for once?"

"I just didn't want to bother you," she says, and looks down with a frown when she brings her hand up to cover his. "You hurt yourself?"

"Ye look like ye've been having fun," Rahne comments wryly, casting a crooked grin in Terry's direction as she heads towards the fridge in search of something to drink. Just how accurate fun is, she isn't entirely sure, but it's better than pointing out that Terry's covered in dirt when she's probably well aware of it already. "Need help with any of that?"

"Oh, this is loads of fun," Terry replies, sounding almost as if she believes it. "I could use some help, if ye don't mind."

"Wouldn't have asked if I did," Rahne says lightly, pausing just long enough to pour herself a glass of iced tea and take a sip before she crosses to the sink. "And it's not like I've got anywhere better to be. So what can I do?"

"You can get your hands dirty," Terry says cheerfully, moving over to give Rahne room next to her. I've got to separate and wash off all these here, then put them away. Think you're up for it?"
