Drive in-cinema!

It was definitely a strange sort of day. The island becoming foggy and dark for the day was odd, but quite exciting. There were a lot more graveyards, werewolves and zombies around than normal. But what, or rather who, should normally be here and wasn't was Fiyero. And Kalm and Elphaba ( Read more... )

She stood, impassive, a child slumbering in her arms. Matthieu was a year old, now.

Moving out of that look of infancy and into the toddler years. Stocky little legs and wide eyes and his father's dark hair. He'd wanted to go out and see. All the commotion and she couldn't keep him indoors, so she'd taken him for a walk, and they'd walked until Matthieu had started to doze.

Now, she stepped up beside the car, unaware that it was occupied, and watched the film on screen. She remembers being a little girl and being so afraid of those studio horror pictures. Nothing much frightens her anymore. Nothing there, on that night, anyway.

Jo wasn't really concentrating on the film enough for it to scare her. But between that and her thoughts she didn't hear the woman come up beside the car she was sitting in.

But she did have a feeling that someone was there and she half didn't want to look. Given what was going on today it could be anything. But it also could be a zombie quietly wanting a hug, so she turned her head and looked.

She breathed a sigh of relief at seeing a woman and a baby there. She laughed a little at herself for being so silly and then said, "Hi. You can sit down if you want."

"Merde!" Sarah gasped, putting a hand to her chest and taking a moment to catch her breath. Nothing much frightens her, but she's edgy. Always edgy. Always waiting for Her to step out of the shadows.

In her arms, Matthieu stirred, opening sleepy eyes and looking down at the woman with a curious frown.

"You startled me," Sarah said in her thick French accent, sounding irritated, but more at herself than anything else.

"Oh, I'm sorry! Jo said quickly. "I didn't mean to." She'd assumed the woman knew she was there and just hadn't said anything because she'd thought Jo was watching the film more closely that she actually was.

"I didn't think the film was that good that anyone would get caught up in it," she said with a smile.
