Geoffrey actually believes that the island wants him to produce Shakespearean theatre, which isn't as reassuring as a person might think. Because then he has to wonder just why the island is encouraging him in this endeavour, and just what it hopes to get out of it. He doesn't know how else to explain the fact that upon deciding on a play, the

Bending her copy of the script back and forth in her hands, she took a deep breath and edged closer to the director and the stage shoving the last bit of timidity out of her person.
Doing her best shouldn't be that hard.

"Helena's monologue from the end of Act one, scene one," she declared, tilting her chin up. It was a bit ambitious but she felt that she might as well try for a lot and get a little rather than fail for nothing. "Do I just start?"

"The actor is at hand," Joey announced, making sure he was within earshot of Geoffrey, "and by my show, you shall know all that you are like to know!" His tweaking of the script impressed even himself, and there was no way he had just spent the last two hours trying to figure out the best way to make a good first impression. Not that he needed one that much; he wasn't exactly new to island theatre.

"I see," he says, as Joey approaches. "And does the actor have an audition piece prepared?"

"I couldn't decide between Obe..." He checked his script. "Oberon? And Bottom." He said the name with a straight face, a testament to how seriously he was taking this. "I met this dude yesterday," he explained, "with big white wings and then I read the Cupid stuff in here? Oh boy, blew my mind." Lines properly memorised, he performed Oberon's speech to Puck in Act II, Scene I, where the King of the Faeries recalls the time he saw, "flying between the cold moon and the earth, Cupid all arm'd" and the "certain aim he took at a ( ... )

She was damned if Duo was going to take the part she was after, too. She glanced around, and aimed a suspicious, slightly threatening glare at him across the clearing when she found him.

"Arya," he greets her. "It's good to see you again. I'm looking forward to your audition."

Luckily, he'd experienced it for long enough where it didn't really throw him off.
He'd been kicked back, a copy of the play open and folded back in one hand, watching people audition with interest, although it was the sort of wide eyed and head-tilted interest of the chronically shiftless or puppy-faced. This was of course extremely misleading, but a default was a default. He'd been falling back into with renewed skill since waking up on the island again after dreaming of home.
It was kind of weird to be parked by the stage without Polly. Mostly weird that it had been so long. Three years and he'd never auditioned. Well, you hadda branch out, try new things. Why not.

"So," he started, "I was flippin' through the, yanno, collected works and thinking about this whole audition process and of course, the obvious choice is the "Check out what I did to your wife" monologue because- Clearly- but you've gotta have heard that one like how many times now? So I was thinking about Bottom but it's not verse. So ultimately, I kinda- I mean, yeah, I've been reading the 'my lady is in love with a donkey' monologue buuut I also prepared Jaques from As You Like It."
