Several hours had passed, long enough for Capa to be taken to the clinic, long enough for him to find a place to stash the suit, hoping no one would tamper with it while he was gone. It wasn't the suit itself he cared about, only that it would be in good condition when he found the right equation to get off the island ( Read more... )

It wasn't the first time Ellie had to treat someone John Sheppard had to drag in. This man was a little more cooperative than Elle had been, though just as insistent about staying out of the clinic as much as possible. She'd been worried about him leaving, but she knew she couldn't make him stick around. She hadn't expected to see him again, especially not in front of the door. She watched him for a moment, frowning thoughtfully.

"You should at least get into something warmer, you know," she commented, though not chidingly. Her arms folded against her chest in a vain attempt to keep herself warm, too. The weather was getting worse instead of better.

She worried those beds might be taken up since so many had taken shelter here, but it was worth going to check it out. She pushed herself off the wall a little, nodding. "Sure, that works. It's early enough we might be able to grab you one. It's sort of free for anyone to use, and it might be fuller than usual because so many have taken shelter up here. Would you like to go take a look now?"

"If you wouldn't mind," Capa answered, smiling at her. She really was a good doctor, the way she was concerned with whether or not he'd find somewhere to stay. He tried to imagine Searle in her place and couldn't, knowing his former doctor would have had different things on his mind. "I really am okay," he added. "I know you stitched me up, but it isn't that bad. I feel fine."

It wasn't as bad as it could have been.

"Whether you feel fine or not, it's not a good idea to push yourself," she pointed out, motioning for him to follow as she started to walk. The injury was enough to cause her a little concern, and there was no reason why he couldn't take it easy. "Besides, in this weather, I doubt anyone's going out for a little while anyway. There's no reason for you not to take a break."

"I'll wait for the inevitable return of the tropical island I've heard so much about before I go exploring," Capa promised, although he had no intention of going very far even if that were to finally happen. "Should I come back to you in a week or so? That way you can check up on me, make sure I'm healing and you won't worry."

"A week should be good, just to make sure everything's fine," she nodded. She was going to request that, actually, but it seemed like he did her the favor of bringing it up first. "This place unfortunately isn't as advanced as where I'm from, at least, so it's best we catch anything before it gets bad, like an infection."

"If I start to notice anything, I'll come straight to you," Capa said. He was a scientist and he tended to ignore any injuries in favour of his work, but here on the island he doubted he'd have work to distract him immediately. "The last thing I want is to die here after not dying up there."
