The tan line on his ring finger is gone. It's such a silly thing to get all pensive about, but there it is. He hasn't been wearing his wedding ring for a couple months now, had made the conscious decision to take it off somewhere around the time Theresa had shown up (not as a result of it, though, at least he doesn't think so). He'd thought that ( Read more... )

Brad never thought he'd say it, but he's getting a little bit sick of comics with Siryn in. Somehow, waking up next to her most days makes the comic sort of pale in comparison. What he wants is something Sci-Fi that he can sit on the steps with. It's somewhat comforting to know that they don't have to spend every moment together. It's sort terrifying to think that he probably could.

"Problems?" he asks the guy standing at the bookshelf. He looks familiar but Brad can't exactly put his finger on why. "I'd suggest giving it a fucking kick but I'm not sure it'd help."

"Hasnae helped me yet, doubt it'll be doin' much today," Sean admits gruffly as the jukebox thankfully shuts up a bit. "If'n ye think ye'll fair better, be me guest." It isn't as if that would be too difficult at this point, after all.

It's the accent. That accent, and then Brad puts his finger on why this guy looks familiar. The thing about Brad is that he was bought up too well to pretend ignorance in a situation like this. He glances up.

"You're Terry's father."

That catches him off guard, but only for a second. It's a hell of a thing to be recognized as, but he'd be lying if he said he doesn't get a kick out of it. His relationship with Terry is anything but simple, but statements like that are almost refreshingly so.

"Aye, that I am," he says with a nod. "Ye're a friend, then?"

"At least it hasn't played In A Gadda Da Vida at you for an hour straight," said Alice from behind him. "That was the longest time I've ever stayed in here." She hadn't risked it since, but even someone as physical as she needed down time. Unfortunately, most of the material the bookshelf offered were zombie fighting manuals.

Like she needed those.

"Aye, but that's jus' the whole song repeated what, twice?" Sean asks wryly, glad for something to take his mind off of the Man in Black telling him that the pipes are, in fact, calling. "Sometimes 's nae so bad, but it seems like whenever I need a bloody distraction, this place jus' turns into a hellhole."

"I know the feeling." Well, usually she did. But things hadn't been so bad for Alice lately, provided she didn't stop to think about them for more than five minutes.

"At least you're not stuck patrolling with two crazy women anymore," she pointed out, smiling.

"There's always that," Sean chuckles, shaking his head. "'m jus' down to the one now, things're really lookin' up fer me. Most o' the time," he adds, gesturing futilely to the bookshelf, which is giving him absolutely nothing of substance. "Care to make sure ye dinnae break yer ol' record an' find someplace less... aggravatin'?"

"So much for what?" Daisy asks when she's finally perked herself up for the day and is in the process of debating what a girl's to do when she starts feeling as if she isn't the center of attention in her home. Typically the answer is 'get a new home', but she's still groggy and not ready for that. She is ready for light conversation, though.

"Findin' somethin' decent t'occupy meself without bein' made a spectacle of," Sean says with a huff, turning to face Daisy. "Guess some days that's jus' too much ta ask."

Daisy always does like it when he goes off in a huff of his, pretty little accent blaring away. It makes her feel like she's at an Irish wake, where everyone's just so upset and drunk at once. "And what's the spectacle today?" she asks. "Would I pay good money for it?"

"Maybe if'n ye're fond o' wastin' it," Sean says dryly, raising an eyebrow. "Jus' the standard 'if'n I dinnae get out o' this bleedin' room inside o' five minutes, I'm gonna wind up puttin' a boot through somethin'' kind o' spectacle."

"Oh, I like this song." Jo smiled at Sean as she came into the rec room. Her statement didn't mean all that much, though, because there were few songs she didn't like.

Since he was just looking at the bookshelves she asked, "Looking for something to read?"

"It loses any appeal it might've had when it's the only thing ye hear 'round these parts. Really, 's jus' a cliché," Sean says, crossing his arms and scowling.

"Somethin' to read, somethin' to watch, 'm nae actually as picky as this thing likes ta make me seem."

Jo made a face at that. "Constantly repeated songs do get on your nerves. Have you tried hitting it?" Not that she thought hitting the jukebox would do a thing, but you never know.

She looked closer at the bookshelf and pulled out what looked like a thin book, but when she opened it it turned out to be sheet music. For what she didn't even look, all the notes on there were enough to tell her it was far too complicated. She shut it and tried not to look guilty. "I haven't been practising." Not that that was a rare occurrence. She always meant to, but somehow there was never the time.

"Nae in a few months now, doubt the reaction'll've changed all too much since then," he says in response to her first suggestion, however satisfying the idea might seem right now.

"I'd get on yer case for't," he adds when he spots what she's pulled from the shelf, "but I suppose 's nae like I've been the greatest o' teachers meself."

The ache of missing Marcus had begun to fade slightly, though Evey's demeanor still hadn't returned to the carefree manner she'd had before and there was a small pale line on her finger where she'd removed the ring. She couldn't bear to wear it when she wasn't really engaged anymore. It and the wedding ring were safely stashed somewhere that wouldn't call them to mind too often. John had disappeared as well, and she'd been glad she'd had one last conversation with him, that he'd been there when she'd needed a friend ( ... )

"'s nae a problem, lass," Sean says, swallowing another sigh in favor of nodding to Evey. Really, he's just glad for a distraction from the ruckus as well as... well, everything else. "Lookin' fer anythin' in particular?" Hopefully she'd have more luck than him.

He really did seem to have poor luck with the jukebox and bookshelf, but then so did they all at times. She smiled slightly, politely, when he nodded to her.

"Something about ancient Egypt, actually. Have you spotted anything like that today?" she asked seriously.

"'fraid nae," Sean says, slightly apologetically. Something seems different about her, but there's nothing overtly off about the way she's acting, so he doesn't say anything about it. "I'd say I'd keep an eye out, but with me luck, I doubt it'd me much help."
