Charlie was pretty sure that she was glowing. She kept touching the backs of her hands to her cheeks, trying to cool herself down. She ached from grinning all over her face. Charlie Jones. Charlie Jones. She took a long swallow of her champagne and turned in a slow circle, just to feel her dress flare. Her Momma's wedding ring fit on her finger like it was made to go there.

Maybe it was. Maybe everything was fated.
Or maybe Charlie Jones was just the luckiest girl in wherever the hell this was.

Jack slid up behind her and tapped her on the right shoulder before darting to the left to get in front of her. He was smiling brightly, even as he planted a kiss on her cheek.

"Mrs. Jones, are you going to dance with me?" he asked. "Because I'm pretty sure that's my last official duty.

"Call me that again?" said Charlie, turning smoothly, the hand holding her champagne flute going up to Jack's shoulder.

"Call me that again, and I'll dance with you all night, honey."

"Oh, I can't have you all night," he teased. "Not now that you're a married woman."

He held out one hand in invitation, but the other snaked around her waist and Jack stepped closer and craned his neck so he could lower his voice and still be heard.

"Mrs. Charlie Jones...do me the honor of a dance?"

He never thought he'd see the day.

It wasn't any sort of pessimism that fueled that thought, only a somber realism. Life was less dangerous here than back home, but just an unpredictable. Things had started to look up before. Gwen married with a baby. Tosh and Owen in a relationship with a baby. Ianto happy as well. He'd remarked that all they needed was a white picket fence and they'd be set.

That had all crumbled. Several times over, in fact.

But here they were now, he and Mrs. Jones. He and his wife living in a two-bedroom hut with their dog and their pig, practically happy enough to make one sick.

Pleased and proud, Ianto fixed himself another whiskey and went to go talk to more guests. Maybe share a dance with his wife.

"Well, new groom," Sarah Jane greeted with a pleasant warmth in her tone, smoothing out her dress and cheerfully kissing his cheek. "How does it feel to be a part of wedded bliss?" She had no idea herself how it might feel, but it never hurt to ask these sorts of things.

Ianto grinned broadly at Sarah Jane's greeting, then stopped to give her question due consideration. "Mmm, blissful, I think," he answered with a touch of cheek. "And how do you feel? You're sort of a part of it too."

"Me?" Sarah Jane echoed with slight surprise. "All I did was stand up there and look pretty in a dress and I hate to say it, but most of the women and men in this place could do the same thing," she pointed out. "I'm afraid some of the men could do it better than me, even."

"A toast!" bellowed Jack over the crowd. "A toast! Everyone, can I have your attention!" A moment later he had climbed onto a table so he could survey the crowd. Ha smiled a dashing smile and lifter his glass high ( ... )

The Doctor agreed with all of it, and he wasn't sure how to approach Jack. Didn't know if he should. But maybe it was time. He was still debating it when Jack came that way, where the Doctor was leaning against the wall. "Bore da," he said, offering a small smile.

The atmosphere of the whole day made it impossible for Jack to be anything but happy. Happy to be part of it all. Happy to see Charlie and Ianto looking so perfect together. And, yeah, even happy to see the Doctor.

"Bored?" he teased. "Maybe you need another drink." Jack chuckled and clapped the man on the shoulder, then held up his own glass to illustrate.

"Not bored, just glad it all went off," said the Doctor. "Decompression, if you will." He picked up his own glass, blushing slightly. "I'm avoiding Donna, she was a bit embarrassed when she cracked the shaker on this one."

She never thought that she would ever be in one place long enough to be a bridesmaid, let alone to be good enough friends to earn the pleasure. It was a good thing, though. It was something she could get used to. She offered a rather serene smile upon her face as she settled, glad to simply enjoy the day with friends.

Even if she had asked Casey to rescue her from it later on.

"Thankyou, Sarah Jane," said Charlie, grinning all over her face, still, the ceremony long over. "Here. I made this for you as a little thankyou for being a bridesmaid."

She held out an origami rose made in silver and green paper.

"It meant the world to us."

Sarah Jane brightened ever the more. "I really didn't expect gifts, especially when my own to you is simply the favour of moving boxes or lugging things about whenever you wish," she admitted, suddenly feeling a strike of guilt. She did miss the array of shops that home had, if only to pick up something for the happy couple. "It's beautiful, Charlie," she praised. "And congratulations, Mrs. Jones!"

"I am never gonna get tired of that," said Charlie, looking pleased. "Mrs Charlie Jones." She made a little wave of her hand and grinned.

"Just a little thing. At least you don't gotta put it in water."

Jane, perhaps, would never choose such a garment for herself to attend a wedding in, but she would always agree to the whims and wants of dear Ianto, for he was such a lovely friend. Even Lydia had her own dress and this marked the first event that Jane had allowed her daughter to sit more than five feet from her side, settled and content in a seat.

Now, after, she simply sat while Lydia ran back and forth between tables to present Jane with some new food, abound in energy that Jane herself could not imagine possessing.
