Gideon was surprised he was coming off as calm as he fucking was with this shit. Inwardly, he was a ball of nerves, which didn't get any better as he fucking stood up front. Everyone was gathered in a halfway decent set-up on the beach, and he knew all eyes were on him. While he didn't usually mind that shit, suddenly it was all in a different ( Read more... )

Gideon knew they were supposed to fucking stick around for the party after. Much as he liked being around the people he got along with, he still sort of wanted to fucking high tail it to the hut again. Knowing that wasn't possible, he chose to make himself enjoy everything that was fucking going on. That, of course, included being pretty much glued to Penny's side.

They both knew they had to be available for people to...do whatever people fucking do at these kinds of things. Mostly, he was just focused on her, and how actually happy he fucking was. Shit, he couldn't believe it was all over and they'd really done this.

Cecily was not entirely sure where Jim had wandered off to for she was far too excited to spot Gideon and Penny when they were not surrounded by all the other people there. She had not been crying, exactly, for she had always felt it rather strange to cry out of happiness, but she did feel rather emotional, and her voice was shaking when she finally opened her mouth ( ... )

With a broad, nearly flustered smile on her face, Penny held tight to Gideon's hand as Cecily spoke. Not too long before, she'd have said that she wasn't cut out for this sort of thing at all. That may have still been true, but it felt damn good, even more than she could have expected. She had known for a long time that this was what she wanted, and still she didn't think she'd known quite how much that was the case until now.

"Thank you," she replied warmly, still beaming as she stole a brief glance up a Gideon. "Really. I'm - we're so glad you could make it, too."

This kind of shit was a lot more Penny's territory than his, so he was more than fine letting her speak for the two of them. Grinning a little awkwardly, he nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, definitely. Thanks for uh, showing up and shit. You having a good time?" he asked, figuring that's the kind of question he was supposed to ask.

For a while there, seemed like there was a wedding every five fuckin' seconds. The weddings and births have died down, even while we're still scrambling to hold on to the things we might lose, but they haven't stopped. Life goes on.

Gideon's... well, he's Gideon, and I only really know Penny through Joe, but I'm here because I wanna be. They're so fuckin' happy about the whole thing, which is sorta rare at least from one end, it'd seem like a shame to miss it.

Much as Gideon didn't mind talking to the people Penny knew, it was always easier to gravitate towards people he knew. It felt way less formal as hell, at least.

"Hey," he said, standing next to Neil when he noticed he was standing there. He wasn't away from Penny much during this shit, but he'd lost her to a few people earlier and he figured that meant he ought to fucking walk around, too. "There's a shitload of food over there if you're hungry."

Being a host would always be more Penny's thing, but he figured he ought to at least try so she didn't have to do all the work.

"Hey. Yeah, man, I saw. Thanks," I say with a tiny smirk, knowing he's probably uncomfortable with all this shit. Even if I didn't know him, I could pretty much see it on his face.

"So, congratulations. How's it feel?"

"I don't think this shit has sunken in yet," he said, looking at everyone gathered around. In fact, he was fucking sure of that. He had a feeling once things actually slowed down it'd hit him what was going on. "But...good. Really fucking good."

There'd been nothing to it, really. It had been, for Eden, merely a matter of leading Penny to where she already wanted to be, and then playing witness without getting all fucking teary over it. After the fact, actually, she'd had to step aside and take a moment. It was so weird, the way happiness could make you cry. There was nothing in this but pure joy, and there she'd been, wiping away tears.

Now she wandered around the edge of the reception, having already congratulated her friends, toying now with the fabric of her dress, smiling. It had all come together so beautifully that it still didn't feel quite real.

"Eden, hey!" Matt was almost sort of impressed that he recognized a few people around the reception, seeing as he didn't really know either of the people actually getting married. It made wandering around while Daphne went off to do her thing an awful lot less awkward when he had targets to instinctively head for.

"Matt," Eden greeted, bright as she gave him a little wave. "Hi! I didn't know you were coming." For all that she had helped Penny out, the guest list had definitely not been in her hands. Plenty of the people circling around were only vaguely familiar to her, another reminder that she really needed to get out more.

"I wasn't all that aware, either," Matt said dryly before offering up a small shrug and a smile since yeah, it definitely hadn't been all that bad. "I'm a plus one."

Serena wouldn't have missed it for the world. Nevermind that she'd half-grown up on Penny's story, this was so much better than fiction. It felt good to see people getting their happily ever after, looking so pleased. Happy beginning, she supposed, more like. It wasn't exactly an end. Somehow, the unconventional vows had only convinced her of that more. Jenny had done good work and everyone looked gorgeous, in her somewhat biased estimation, and there'd been a kind of thrill, seeing the rings and the bracelet Penny had borrowed and getting to feel she'd played a little part in all this.

Biting her lip on a bright smile, she toyed with a loose strand of hair and made her way over to the food. Ellie's was always the best.

"Serena! Hey!" William called out to her as he made his way over to the food. He wasn't sure if she remembered him, but the drink in his hand was making him feel friendly and outgoing.

"How great is all this?" he asked, waving a hand at the festivities.

"It's amazing," Serena agreed, bouncing up on her toes even in heels, smiling broadly. Absently, she pressed a hand to her chest, glancing over toward the bride and groom. "They look so happy. You're a friend of theirs, too?" She knew pretty well that he knew Penny, but she'd yet to slip up yet and had no intention of starting now.

"Yeah, Penny and I are old friends from home." The sun was warm on his back, and William felt that if there was something going wrong with the world, he sure as hell couldn't figure out what it was. "How about you?" he asked, smiling again at Serena. "You're a friend of Penny's, right?"

Ophelia would have sooner defied all the stars in Heaven than to have missed the wedding of one of her dearest friends. She could not say much on the nature of the gentleman, but Penny looks lovely and most important of all, happy which means reason need not enter into it.

Music and people and food made the entire thing more perfect than any of the stuffy weddings she had attended in her past. Smiling broadly, she holds a plate of food as she mills around, swinging gently to the music. It is a beautiful day and a beautiful thing and she could not be happier by proxy.

Catching sight of her nearby, Ryan smiled and wandered nearer. "You look like you're enjoying yourself," he noted, nodding to her. She was about as bright as if she were part of the wedding party herself, it seemed like. It was good to see her happy.

"I am," Ophelia turns to face Ryan, eyes bright and merry. She laughs, looking around for a brief moment, before focusing again. "I do love brilliant occasions."

Her good cheer was contagious somehow, and he found his own smile brightening as he slid his hands into his pockets, nodding. "This is definitely that," he agreed, glancing briefly around. "Are you here on the, uh, the bride's side or the groom's?"
