When Michael had gone into the kitchen for something warm to drink, he'd had to stand in the door and marvel at the complete wreck that was the compound kitchen. There was flour on most of the counter surfaces and there were many bowls filled with questionable substances scattered amid other ingredients and a young blond girl in pigtails sitting on ( Read more... )

Bart was just going to grab a snack and some stuff to bring back to the treehouse when he spotted a familiar pair of blonde pigtails making cookies. Swiftly reevaluating his priorities, he surreptitiously grapped a spoon, and came up behind her, grabbing a sample of the dough and popping it into his mouth before she had a chance to react.

"Mm, good job, Cass. We may have to keep you around," he teased, braced to make sure the slap or punch he was expected wasn't going to land on already bruised ribs.

Cassie turned to him with wide eyes and almost whapped him with the spoon she was mixing with. But she thought twice in the nick of time and whapped his shoulder with her other hand instead. "Bart! I've already gotten in trouble for eating dough! Michael isn't going to let me help anymore if you keep this up!" Despite her indignant tone, she couldn't stop grinning.

"If he won't let you, then I won't see if I remember how to make Joan's butter tarts. I know she taught me once," Bart teased back. "Christmas isn't Christmas without butter tarts. Or so I've been told."

But he left the dough alone after putting the contaminated spoon with the rest of the dishes. "So, we're making cookies. We should figure out something to make for Bob so he doesn't feel all left out."

Michael motioned for Cassie to come over and work on the gingerbread and she pulled Bart over to help her as Michael got the sugar cookies ready to go in. "Later. Right now we have to cut the gingerbread!" It was clear by her tone that this was her favorite part. She had a dull knife and she handed one to Bart. "Let's make some fun shapes, nothing boring! Except men of course. Have to have some gingerbread men."

Karolina flew into the kitchen rubbing her hands together as she came through the door. She wants tea. Immediately. But she's not prepared for the delightful mess in front of her. "Don't tell me it's Christmas already?" she teases the two would-be-bakers. She tilts her head and smiles at Cassie, unclasping her hands to give her a small wave. "Getting into the spirit of things?" Her eyes flick back and forth from Cassie to the young man she doesn't know.

Cassie grins brightly and waves Karolina in. "Well duh! It's only like a week away! We have to be ready with the necessities, like cookies!"

Michael only laughed. "What she said. This was her idea, I'm just helping."

"Nice!" Karolina grins and crosses the kitchen to pull down a mug. "First question, anybody want tea? Second question, do you want help?"

The smell was what drew Willie to the kitchen. When he had first arrived, Lieutenant Prior had made food for him, he remembered the eggs most of all, but there was a sort of pie as well. It had been like nothing he'd ever tasted before. The lieutenant called it pumpkin and the kitchen smelled of it now. He poked his head in cautiously, army hat tucked carefully under one arm. He didn't know either of the two cooks, but the man looked a little familiar, perhaps one of Mr Burgess's many friends. After a moment of so of deciding, Willie sneaked in, trying to simply grab one of the biscuits and escape again as quickly as possible.

[Michael please? For the meeting of Guy's boys. If it wasn't obvious.]

Considering the only finished 'biscuits' were the pumpkin ones that Michael had just pulled from the oven and was in the process of removing from the tray, it was hard for anyone to sneak in and steal them. Michael looked up from what he was doing and smiled. "Hi, can I help you?"

Willie had been planning on waiting for a while in a corner, perhaps pretending to get something else until the man was done and then taking one when his back was turned, but there was no hope of that now. "Oh! I- I was just coming in for something to drink. Not for a biscuit at all, and certainly not to be taking one, sure." He never meant to say all that, not at all, it all just came out of his treacherous mouth without his meaning for it to.

Michael just kind of looked at him, fighting back a smile. "Well you know, by the time you got something to drink, these should be cool enough for me to get the icing on." His tone was teasing but he clearly meant that the man was welcome to have some. "If you like pumpkin that is. The gingerbread and sugar are going to be a bit longer."

Hunter's always teasing Dairine about having Food Radar, and the thing is, he's not that wrong. The scent of someone making cookies lures her out of her room, eyeing the kitchen in hopeful curiousity. Aha! Victims! Is it better or worse that they're people who know her?

"Hey, Michael. Hey Cassie." All innocent smiles and wide green eyes. "Whatcha doin?"

Cassie looked from her stirring and smiled at Dairine. "Hey! We're making cookies! Want to help?" She didn't mind Dairine so much, at least she had a backbone, unlike the other girl Titan.

Michael looked up too when he heard Dairine, which was right when he finished rolling out the ginger bread into sheet. "Hey Diarine. If you want, I have some cookies that are coming out of the oven in moment that need icing." He knew that her food radar rivaled Hunter's and if a couple cookies went missing from the batch...he wouldn't notice.

"Score! Yeah, 'course I want to help!" And maybe steal a few. In the name of testing them, of course. Making sure they're fit to serve people. "What kind?"

After standing guard over Tim, not even remotely unobtrusively, for the last few days, Dick's stircrazy. Tim's fine, and if he spends any more time Bat-brooding over whether the suit's Jason's, Stephanie's or someone completely new, Roy's going to end up as battered as Jill the next time they spar.

He goes in search of Cassie, who he'd promised to do Christmas-y things with, and finds her in the kitchen making cookies with a guy he hasn't met yet. Cute guy, but Cassie's there, and Dick's feeling more like family than flirting.

Sneaking up Bat-style on his favorite blonde, Dick looms behind her, arms crossed over his chest. "Hm." It's softer than Bruce's 'Hn," because Dick is.

[Cassie or both, up to you if you want to do the comic book geekout or not. I'll be slooooooow. He's not in uniform, despite the icon.]

Cassie immediately froze and turned around slowly, bowl and spoon still in hand. When she saw it was Dick, she rolled her eyes and placed the bowl down before she playfully punched him in the side. "Not funny! If I'd dropped that bowl, Michael wouldn't have let me help anymore!" Despite her tone, she was grinning all the while.

He lets her punch him then with a flick of his hand catches her wrist before she can pull it back. "It would never have hit the floor." In spite of the Batittude, Dick gives her a warm smile. "How's my Wonder, today?" he asks, risking the Wonder because anyone who hears it will take it for a term of endearment, which it is.

She of course tried to pull her wrist back then glared at him, with a smile on her face, when she couldn't. "Right, right, reflexes gotcha. All you ba-boys! are the same." She rolled her eyes. "And I'm good! Michael is helping me make Christmas cookies."

At the sound of his name, Michael looked over and nodded to Dick before going back to work.
