Isabel was one of the few people on the island Atia truly enjoyed spending time with. The list of those she would venture out to visit was shorter yet. But this day she thought she might spend some time with the younger woman; perhaps in doing so discovering what her daughter was doing with her time.

Seeing a woman speaking to a horse, had not been what she expected. "Excuse me. I believe this is Isabel's home?"

Her tone clearly indicated that this woman was in the wrong place.

"Not anymore," Jaye growled over her shoulder. She spared the woman a glance and rolled her eyes. "She's gone. Very sorry. Go cry somewhere else. Want a horse?"

"Gone? Gone where?" Atia demanded, her mouth pulling downward at the words. The idea that Isabel might be gone from this place was not one that was welcome.

"Gone to--" She was about to yell on about whatever planet it was Isabel probably came from. But even with her gone, she felt obligated to not reveal Isabel's secrets.

Goddamn her.

"Gone to home. Wherever. Gone. Away from here. Disappeared. Vanished. She got a Get Out of Jail Free card."

Ned was of the opinion that keeping his opinions about people to himself was always for the best. Digby, however, was less concerned about being nice where violence to other animals was concerned. He let out a low growl and barked at Jaye.

"I don't think Digby would actually hurt you-" another bark, "-but he doesn't like it when people threaten animals." Ned paused and studied the scene in front of him. "Why, exactly, are you threatening a horse?"

"Oh shut up!" Jaye snapped at the dog. She would feel bad about it later, maybe, but right now the barks were REALLY fucking annoying.

"I'm threatening the horse because IT'S here and Isabel is NOT," Jaye explained.

"Don't yell at Digby," Ned said, giving Jaye an appalled look as Digby whined and did as Jaye yelled. He, like Ned, didn't like confrontation.

The name Isabel sounded familiar to Ned, but with the claustrophobic way the kitchen was set up and Chuck's penchant for making friends and talking to just about anyone, Ned probably knew half the names of half the island residents. Not that he actually knew them.

"Maybe she's not here because she doesn't want to be threatened?" That didn't say much for Isabel, if she left her horse to Jaye's wrath.

Jaye rolled her eyes at man and dog. "He's a big dog. He can handle it. And Isabel's a big girl." A big, TALL girl. And a bitch when she wanted to be. "She gives as good as she gets. But the fact is she's gone now. She's not hiding. She's just back in Roswell."

God, ROSWELL. Who wanted to go back to ROSWELL?

Angie was gone and Cora's little heart was breaking because of it. She clung to Adam and to Cain like they were going to vanish, Lucy had done her best to cheer her up by taking her to see the unicorns but even the joy of that had faded. Feeling a little down, Coraline trudged through the jungle towards Isabel's, exploring the area (and checking for Angie just in case) as she went.

"Isabel?" Coraline called out, turning round the corner and peered at Jaye who was swearing at a horse. "I don't think his name is Mister Ed, Miss Jaye. Have you seen Isabel?"

Oh crap. It was that kid. Jaye wasn't in the mood for kids, especially not ones that apparently knew Isabel. You couldn't curse at them to make them go away without consequences. Consequences were annoying.

"Uh.." Jaye ran her hand through her hair. "No?"

"I haven't seen her either, she lets me cook with her and she gave me a cool uniform with these neat little alien bobbleheads and everything. But I haven't- is she at Mister Tim's?" Coraline said, with a small curious smile. Isabel was very cool in one way but so ways Miss Jaye, Miss Jaye knew the forbidden words. "We should take her horse there."

Oh, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. Maybe she wouldn't have to say it. Maybe the kid would catch on. Catch on and then... go the fuck away to someone who would give her a hug.

"I've been to Tim's," she said carefully. "She's not there either."

Tim'd already been to Isabel's hut once already, had already found it as empty as he'd expected, so why he's decided to check it just once more, he doesn't know. Not really. It can't be because he actually believes she might not really be gone, that's for sure.

Jaye's voice catches his attention as he approaches and he arches an eyebrow when he notices she's talking to a horse. Isabel's horse. A very small smile tugs at the corner of his mouth.

"You less crazy for talkin' to a live animal, Jaye?"

Jaye's eyes narrowed as she slowly turned her head to look at Tim. And glared.

"Maybe. Maybe it makes me more crazy and likely to go on a homicidal rampage. Should we find out?"

Jaye's got a pretty good glare on her, Tim will agree with that much, but he's pretty sure her bark's a hell of a lot worse than her bite and he only manages an easy shrug, still grinning a little.

"Bring it," he says, spreading his arms out in invitation, clearly teasing.

Her venom disappeared REALLY quickly in the face of .. Tim's face. The anger was still there, but not at Tim.

"Ihateyou," she muttered under her breath, coming closer, arms still crossed over her chest, and not meaning it at all.

Veronica raised her brow at Jaye, hands on her hips and head tilted to the side. "You know, I don't think we're in a whole lot of need for glue," she said. "Is yelling at the horse effective? It doesn't look effective." Probably she ought to have played nice and asked why Jaye was yelling at the horse, but she figured it would come out in time. If not, she'd ask later. Right now, it was just kind of funny.

"It makes me feel better!" Jaye shot back in anger. It didn't make a whole lot of sense and didn't make her LOOK very good, but it kind of just came out.

She sighed heavily and rested her hands on her hips. "It keeps looking at me."

"You considered walking away from the horse?" Veronica asked. It was a fair enough question, even if Jaye seemed less than an inch from full on snapping. The horse and the hut, unoccupied though it seemed to be, weren't Jaye's. It occurred to her that this might even be the problem. Softening a little, she glanced away. "What happened?"

She sighed again and fidgeted, her arms once again settling folded over her chest. She glared at the floor and the foliage and the horse, avoiding Veronica's eyes.

"Isabel's gone," she muttered. "And she adopted this stupid horse from some guy who ALSO disappeared and now IT'S still here."
