Jess winced when she got a good look at Sam's face in the light of day. "Shit," she said, reaching out but not quite touching it for fear of doing further damage. Not that there was much unbruised space around his nose to even touch. "Did I really do that? I swear, the last time I broke someone's nose they actually deserved it."

Sam let out an exhalation that coupled with a laugh to sound genuinely amused as he gave her a fond look. "I love that you have previous experience in breaking noses, I really do," he swore, a refreshed tone in his voice as he looked at her. "It's okay, though, really. It was worth it," he added, because he would happily break another limb just to have her alive and happy.

"Probably would've been better without all the blood, though," she said, finally brushing her fingers against him, high up on his cheekbone. "Does it hurt really bad? Is there anything I can do?"

His eyes fell closed at the touch and he had to take a full step back, just to remove himself from all kinds of temptation he didn't know that he could stand. "You being here is enough, I promise," he swore. "You just have to give me some...not time, I guess, maybe, some patience? This is really weird," he had to admit.

Ellen had a cup of tea in her hands and slouched in the open doorframe, shaking her head. "Don't touch it." She took a slow sip of tea, smiling crookedly. "Just let it heal, you idiot." He knew better than to mess with it. Broken noses were a pain in the ass.

Sam wrinkled his nose and then it sent a sharp bolt of pain through him and he couldn't help the grimace that flickered over his face. "It's a really, really fresh wound," he muttered his complaint. "I'll stop soon. Really."

"Really?" She shook her head. "Don't. Pick. At it." She chuckled to herself. "What now, you and Dean go round for round over something?"

"What? No, if Dean broke my nose, Dad would break his or something." Or, at least Sam liked to think. "This was totally an accident," he promised with a half-there smile before it was gone again. "It was a uh, a new arrival. Jess? Jessica Moore? You know, my girlfriend?"

It wasn't hard to spot a broken nose, even for someone not near as observant as she was, and Saffron frowned a little when she saw Sam. "Honey, how'd you go and get your nose broken?" she asked in a concerned tone, silently vowing that if it had been done maliciously she'd go and wipe the floor with whomever'd done it, regardless of whether or not Dean had gotten to them already.

Sam glanced over his shoulder to Helen and offered a sheepish smile. "Trust me, I didn't do anything to bring it on. I kinda just opened my eyes and it happened. Completely not on purpose," he hurried to add with a promise in a smile's form.

"You just opened your eyes and it happened," she repeated, raising an eyebrow. "What, did something fall out of the sky and land on top of you?" New arrivals had been known to fall out of the sky, on occasion.

"Yes."

It was so simple and yet when he said it aloud, it sounded so insane. "Uh, someone from back home, actually. Sort of landed right on my bed and," he spoke, gesturing with the hand to re-enact the event. "She sort of smacked me right in the nose and broke it."

What came next was small, blond, and leaning in the doorway of the bathroom.

"Sorry, didn't you read the rules?" Veronica asked, looking at him wryly. "Clown noses are supposed to be red. With your height, we could, though, put you in the petting zoo with the giraffes." She wanted to know what had happened, but she'd learned that if she hung around long enough, she could get in her cracks and find out.

Sam could have frozen in headlights for all that he looked like a stunned deer at that moment, gaping at her with worry and a flash of panic. "Ve...Veronica, hi!" he nervously greeted, voice an octave higher than it really should have been. "Uh, yeah. It's...it's broken, yeah."

"I guessed," she said, walking in, arms folded. She looked him over critically, noting that he seemed in all other ways to be in one piece. "What I don't know is what happened to get it that way. Did you get into a fight?" He didn't look like he had, though. She'd seen Logan and even Duncan after they'd been in fights, and many other men since, and they generally didn't look this alright.

Sam shook his head and cleared his throat, knowing that an explanation was definitely coming soon. "No. Actually. It was an accident." It still resulted in him having a broken nose and being in a lot of pain, but none of it was on purpose or anything. "It was just someone new. It was Jess, actually. She uh, ... from off the ceiling."

Nita actually was going for the mirror herself - blaming it completely on Georgie and Serena, the self-proclaimed fashion angels in the laundry room. She didn't really primp, as a rule. She didn't really do anything besides make sure that she wasn't naked and she was comfortable, but this... this was not-naked and comfortable, and possibly, she suspected, actually looked nice.

Her hair was down instead of in a messy ponytail, the shirt pretty much perfectly matching the capris with buckles on them. She'd wanted to see how the whole thing looked, but it looked like that space was already pretty well occupied. "Are you okay?" She pretty much forgot about looking at herself (she felt so vain), and was more concerned with the mess that was- well, she'd seen him around, so barring a clone, it was Sam Winchester's nose. Had been. Still was, even though it looked a lot more... mushed.

Sam turned and realized that he was still fidgeting and finicking with the nose, fingers on it and he probably looked like a complete idiot. "Uh, not really," he admitted, seeing as 'okay' didn't go with 'broken nose' as a rule. "I'm sort of in a lot of pain, but it's not so bad, considering."

"Wow, that was stupid. Sorry. Yeah. Obviously not okay." She bit her lip. There wasn't honestly anything she could do - not anymore, anyway. "Should you put ice on it? I mean, I haven't ever broken my nose, but my mom always made me put ice on where I got black eyes and stuff."

She shook her head. "Sorry, I... yeah. Don't just randomly go getting into other people's business. I'm Nita, by the way. You're Sam, right? I've seen you around."

"I had it set, so now it's sort of just not touching it." Which was easier said than done, seeing as when you had a broken anything, all you could think about was wanting to go back to normal. At least, that was how it was with all of Sam's injuries prior to his storming out for a normal life. "And yeah, I'm Sam Winchester. It's good to meet you," he said politely.
