God has chosen this time, this place, to test us...

...whether we fail or pass the test, is up to us.Standing in a reverent silence, D’Anna wondered how long it took for the consensus to be made, if any of the other models had even a moment’s hesitation before casting his or her vote in deciding the fate of her entire line. The more she thought about it, the less sure she was about actually wanting ( Read more... )

As days and months and years passed, Leoben missed aspects of home less and less. But he always found himself missing the ships so when he saw the console, he knew exactly what it was and all but ran towards it.

It wouldn't work because there was no Hybrid or ship. It wasn't going to do anything, but the lights were there and the water was there. Nothing else was there though. He couldn't connect to anything else especially not anything larger than himself.

The cylon sighed and then did his best to tell him he didn't care as he kept his hands under the water, watching it run through over the lines and calluses on his palms.

"Oh, I don't blame you," Leoben assured her. "You can't help how you feel, but neither can I."

Sadly, he didn't know much about the particulars. He just knew the situation on New Caprica probably sucked because that seemed to be the running theme with places back home in space.

"It's all for nothing anyway," Boomer said idly, looking down at the console. "It doesn't work. Humans and cylons. Regardless of how you feel."

Love didn't matter.

"It works here," he pointed out. "I don't care if it doesn't matter or doesn't work back home. I'm not there and I haven't been in two years." The time for dwelling on it had kind of passed. Especially now that he had a daughter to think about.

"Whatever." Boomer decided. "You weren't there. You didn't see how it all worked out."

It had all happened before, and would happen again. You didn't have to believe in God or the Gods to know that was possible.

It was like arguing with a brick wall. He just shook his head and stared down at the console. "Yeah, well, you weren't here."

Boomer saw it more as stating a simple fact than she did arguing.

But she somehow doubted that Starbuck killing him time and time again was how she showed him that she loved him.

"Well," She said, lifting her hand up and wiping it on her pants to dry it, "This thing's completely dead."

Somehow Leoben wasn't sure this one would ever learn how to mellow out. Not that it was surprising for one of his sisters or even one of his brothers to be negative, but still. "Looks like it."
