The strange and uncanny temples had vanished with the blistering heat of the weather. While Wesley was happy to see the weather go (oh dear, but he thought he might never see a return to England's more temperate climates whereupon you didn't immediately burn upon stepping outside), the lack of temples was almost depressing ( Read more... )

He was still a boyfriend short, but he had Jack back and he was talking more and more to Alcuin, so it wasn't as if his entire life was screwed up. And, if anything, the last month had served as a reminder that he'd been entirely too caught up in his own little group and, while he'd never be the social butterfly that Jack was, Daniel was never a recluse. Or at least he hadn't been after joining the Stargate program.

So when he heard a somewhat familiar voice curse, he stopped, wandering until he saw Wesley.

"Everything okay?" he asked curiously, not even realizing that it might be an ironic question, considering his own still-casted arm.

Wesley frowned and when he was sure that nothing was about to bombard him from the sky, he cleared his throat and resumed a proud position. "I missed," he admitted, having collected his knife. "But I have handily managed to evade attack from above."

"I wouldn't know the first thing about throwing a knife," Daniel admitted. "I'm a decent shot with a Zat or a gun or a staff weapon, but you give me a knife..." He chuckled and shrugged. "I could stab someone with it."

"I've done that," Wesley admitted, "but really, I've mostly been known for my aim." He frowned, seeing as that example of throwing a knife had been rather terrible. "At least...normally. That was a poor example."

Gunn was no Angel - a fact for which he would thank whatever Power-That-Be that was still listening - but he could manage a good lurk in the shadows when was needed. He'd been watching for only a couple of minutes when Wesley missed. Not wanting to be fodder for whatever bird Wesley had pissed off, he moved from his position behind a group of trees.

"What the hell happened there?" he asked.

Wesley calmed himself with a deep breath in and a release of it out as he fetched the dagger and clasped it by the hilt. "Well, Charles, I do believe people might call that a miss," he answered, choosing to interpret the words quite literally.

Gunn raised an eyebrow as he wandered over to where Wesley was standing, stopping short of him by a couple of feet. "Uh huh," he said. "Let's try that again."

Wesley cleared his throat and offered a rather embarrassed smile, sighing as he took the knife and aimed it again. "Do you recall Rogue?"
