Bennet/Darcy wedding

Elizabeth was glad that the snow had not yet gone by the day her wedding arrived. The white blanket that lay across the island made everything look clean and fresh, as if it had dressed up for the occasion. She had hoped for a lovely day, and had not been disappointed in the slightest ( Read more... )

The entire affair had happened quite a lot faster than Darcy had anticipated. Having attended a number of weddings, he had always found them to be rather lengthy and uninteresting, and while he was overjoyed to be marrying Elizabeth, had not thought this would be much different. They would go through the motions, he believed, as was proper. However, he had found himself so overwhelmed to be standing beside the beautiful figure of his bride to be that he scarcely noticed any time had passed at all.

Elizabeth was glowing in that way that can only mean pure, unadulterated happiness, and Darcy could not help but smile himself. She was everything she could have hoped for in a partner, and while he did not believe himself capable of beaming quite so brightly, he had never found himself happier in the entirety of his lifetime.

Still a bit drunk on the entire event, Darcy leaned closer to his wife and murmured, "Congratulations, Mrs Darcy."

Elizabeth found his hand and slipped her fingers between his, quite unwilling to be away from him any longer than necessary. "Oh, I do like the sound of that," she said, smiling up at him. "Mrs Darcy. I do believe it is the most pleasant sound I have ever heard."

"Would it be terribly conceited of me to say it suits you?" Darcy inquired, smiling pleasantly down at Elizabeth. "I cannot imagine it fitting anyone better, with the possible exception of my mother."

"Then I am in good company," Elizabeth replied, blushing. "And if it is a conceit, I think you are allowed it if you are speaking of your wife." It gave her a little thrill to refer to herself as his wife.

Stu was mighty honored to stand up with Darcy and Miss Lizzy, but to be honest, for most of the ceremony he was looking at Jane. Wasn't too long ago they were being wed and the memory of it got him grinnin' like a fool.

He wasn't to great at speech making, but he'd gotten a few thoughts together to toast the new bride and groom. First things first, Stu waited patiently to shake Darcy's hand and give his sister-in-law a hug worthy of a Texan.

"Mr Redman," said Elizabeth happily, greeting him with a little curtsey, "It makes me so happy that you were part of our wedding. Thank you so much."

"I'm honored you asked, darlin'," Stu replied warmly, giving her a bow before wrapping his arms around her. "Ain't everyday I got a sister gettin' hitched."

Hell, he hadn't ever had a sister. Not until he'd married Jane and taken her family into his heart. Elizabeth was as much family as anyone blood related. He'd found himself mighty short of those, so he just took what he could get.

"You look beautiful, Miss Elizabeth. Guess I can't be callin' you that anymore, though. Mrs. Darcy now, huh?" he grinned.

"Thank you, Mr Redman," said Elizabeth, returning his hug -- it was not at all improper, for if she had had a brother, she would wish him to be like Mr Redman. "And yes, Mrs Darcy now, for at the moment nothing makes me happier than to hear the name and realise that it is mine."

It was only right that she dress impeccably for the occasion, for her sister and Mr. Darcy deserved nothing less. She kept herself warm and kept Lydia in her arms as she attended the wedding, more than pleased to stand there, perhaps not smiling, but rather radiating joy through her countenance.

It truly was a glorious day for her sister and it was one she would never forget.

"Oh, Jane," said Elizabeth, leaving Mr Darcy's side just long enough to seek out her sister. "I could not be happier today, and your being here is very much a part of it." She knew Jane had long hoped for this, and quite adored Mr Darcy; if there was anyone here who would be even close to herself and Mr Darcy in happiness, it would be Jane.

Jane was most glad to see Lizzy fit to be content for the rest of her life and she shone with great warmth while clasping her sister's hand with her free one. "It was the most beautiful ceremony I have ever seen," she praised warmly. "Truly!"
