Bennet/Darcy wedding

Elizabeth was glad that the snow had not yet gone by the day her wedding arrived. The white blanket that lay across the island made everything look clean and fresh, as if it had dressed up for the occasion. She had hoped for a lovely day, and had not been disappointed in the slightest.

As her father was not present to give her away -- she had hoped and prayed for his arrival for so very long, as well as that of Miss Darcy, and it was the only thing to mar what would turn out to be a lovely occasion -- she felt it almost disrespectful to ask anyone to stand in his place. She loved her Papa dearly and no one could ever substitute for him. The only proper thing to do, she felt, would be to walk down the aisle alone to stand with Mr Darcy, and he was entirely supportive of her wishes. And she was only alone for a very few moments, just as long as it took to walk the short aisle of the island church, for Mr Darcy was there waiting for her, as well as Jane and Mr Redman, who stood up with them as witnesses to this important event.

She found that she was not at all nervous as Father Callahan spoke the words that would unite her to Mr Darcy for the rest of their lives. Excited, yes, and filled with a happiness beyond all her imaginings! -- but not nervous. There was simply nothing to be nervous about. All her former misgivings about Mr Darcy's character, their mutual misunderstandings of each others' temperament and motivations -- all these things had been long ago resolved to Elizabeth's satisfaction, and there was no doubt in Elizabeth's mind that they were entirely suited for each other. Their temperaments and personalities, the ways in which their characters had been formed, were such that they could be entirely complementary, and could only have the effect of betterment, each upon the other. And most importantly, there was a genuine love and affection between them, which Elizabeth had long insisted she would never be married without.

After the ceremony, the party adjourned to New Pemberley so that they might enjoy each others' company for a time in celebration of the event. Elizabeth felt, as she stood in her wedding dress in the drawing room beside her husband, greeting their guests, that she had never been more perfectly and incandescently happy.
