House could have had Jack go by the clinic for him, but to be honest, as shitty as he felt he was still starting to feel very closed in by the same four walls, and besides, he wanted to give Jack a bit of a break. Every attempt to get Jack to just leave for a while had been met with resistance. So he made up something about an upswing and feeling better and having to deal with some administrative stuff at the Clinic, and headed out into the snow for the first time in two days.
The cold actually did make him feel slightly better for a moment, but by the time he got into the warmth of the compound, his nausea had returned at full force. He'd kill someone for some metaclopamine right now. As he limped painfully towards the Clinic, he idly wondered if there might be anything there to take the edge off. But... no. Non-opiates were pointless, he might as well be eating Skittles, and opiates were... well, pointless in a different way.
The first thing he did upon getting there was to splash water on his face, hoping that he wouldn't look so much like death spread on a cracker, in case someone else walked in on him. Then he sat down, rubbing his thigh with his left hand as he scrawled a note on a blank sheet of paper with his right.
ATTN Medical Students -
Classes will resume in approximately two weeks. In the meantime, read at least TWO of the following books. If the bookshelf is uncooperative, ask someone cuter and/or nicer than you to give it a try.
Baily and Love's Short Practice of Surgery
Essential Haematology
Comprehensive Clinical Nephrology
Palliative Care
Dewhurst's Textbook of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Postgraduate
Introduction to Modern Epidemiology
Also, shadow at least one doctor's clinic hours and be prepared when class resumes to have made a decision regarding with whom you may wish to pursue more specialized study.
- Dr. House
Once he finished writing, he reread it and then groaned a little as he reached for his cane so he could get up and stick the thing somewhere. Best to get out of here while he could still walk.
