There was something seriously wrong with Peter Pan's mouth.

One of his teeth was loose. It felt like it was going to fall outHe didn't know when it had started getting loose, but he was almost positive that it wasn't his fault. Peter hadn't bumped into anything or got hit in the mouth or anything, but his front tooth was still wiggling and loose ( Read more... )

"Trying to eat the whole damn island outta oranges?" I ask the kid sitting at the table as I walk past toward the coffee maker. Never met him, but I seen him around before, and I know who he is. Hanging 'round Eostre so much, it's kinda hard not to at least know one of her kids on sight.

"Yeah, I might be able to handle that," I mumble dryly, getting up from my chair and gathering up the orange peels to dump in the garbage.

Peter wiped his sticky hands on his shirt, which didn't do much except get the shirt sticky. Then he held it out to the man. "I'm Peter Pan."

Snorting out a laugh and taking his sticky hand in mine, I say, "'m Neil. Neil Echolls-McCormick. And you're the reason I couldn't get Jeroen outta my hut for a week a few months back."

"Hi Neil," he said with a smile, tracing his finger through the orange juice on the counter idly. But then he glanced up. "What'd I do to Jeroen?"

It shouldn't be surprising that he didn't recall. For one, he did not have the sharpest of memories. For another, that wasan't quite how he recalled events.

Laughing, I sit myself back down in the chair, shaking my head and telling him, "You didn't do anything to him, kid. He just wasn't real ready for a new brother, but he got over it. You two are friends and all now, right?"

Please, God, I fucking hope so. I really don't feel like having another week-long houseguest.

Peter grinned and nodded. "I gave him a marble, a cat's eye, so now we're alright." Jeroen was his first real friend, after all. Helped him when he had nightmares. "Did you hear about the adventures we go on? Anyway, I'm going to take care of him once the Veggies are here."

"Yeah, I heard 'bout some cave exploring," I say, smirking a little. Where Jeroen is usually almost completely silent, this kid's the fucking polar opposite. I'm already starting to wonder if he ever shuts up, "That's good, 'cause I already got Logan to look after, dunno if I could handle Jeroen too."

"I know Logan!" It was exciting, somehow, having met all these people. Being in the know of the people wandering the island. "He's the one who told me 'bout the giant-hunting spear Eostre has, except she really doesn't."

"Yeah, that's Logan," I snort, wondering where the fuck that story came from.
