Stacy would have given anything - literally, anything she could think of - for a law text. There had been a time when she had hated the sight of the huge, heavy volumes and the constant, straight lines of print that seemed they'd never come to any sort of end. She'd labored for hours to wrap her mind around legal jargon and terminology, and had ( Read more... )

Chase found Stacy reading and since he was also in the midst of it, it seemed like it was a day for it. "Your book looks almost as boring as mine," he said, with a bit of a smile. "And here I thought that wasn't possible."

[ooc: Hey! When you also get a moment, email me. There's some living situation stuff we should talk about with some changes having happened over the last two months and all.]

Stacy looked up, giving him a smile and a raise of an eyebrow in turn. "It might not be," she said. "It looks like you're actually learning something. What are you reading today?"

She didn't mind the company and pulled her legs to the side to make room.

Chase flipped the book over to check the cover. "Uh, apparently, a history of intimacy issues and psychiatric causes behind them." He sat down, flipping to chapter five. "I'm trying to be on the psych. staff," he explained.

Stacy's mouth moved into a surprised smile. "Really? When did you start that?" she asked, interest coloring her face. She hadn't heard much about what anyone from Princeton had been doing lately, but she was happy to catch up.

Helen Hoover Boyle spotted her prey from across the room.

Not the prey of a powerful and hungry shark looking for a meal but the prey of a woman in need of friends and was willing to do whatever it took to get them.

Helen approached as if they had been friends for years. She stopped in front of Stacy and waved a finger in front of her.

"This- I like." She approved, referring to the suit the woman was wearing.

Stacy looked up immediately, with the quickness and familiar gesture of a lawyer standing in front of a judge. She'd been ready for anything since her graduation from law school, and wasn't about to fall down on that task now.

"Thank you," she said, watching her more curiously now. "It's what I wore to court." Stacy had never met this woman before, but she was already an interesting sort.

Helen lowered her head and examined the classy suit. Her eyes roamed over the very pleasing outfit.

"It's just good to see something like this in the midst of this island." Helen gave a friendly smile.

Outstretching her gem-ridden hand, she introduced herself with usual zest and smiles.

"Helen Hoover Boyle, I don't believe we've met."

Stacy set aside her book completely and took the outstretched hand, noting the rings and jewelry with an appreciative nod. "I can tell you've got a taste for the finer things," she said with a smile. "Stacy Warner, and we haven't, but it's very nice to meet you. Would you like to sit?"

Today seemed like a normal day. Wilson felt oddly well-adjusted after a long, slow walk. He'd sensed Simon with him, even if he wasn't so far into a delusion that he was convinced the other man was actually there. The sense was enough to convince him that everything would be all right.

Noticing Stacy with her book, he approached. Apparently she hadn't disappeared, which was good.

"Hey Stacy, have you seen Lisa today? She asked me a question, and I think I have the answer, but... can't find her." He smiled, and thought catching up might not be a bad idea.

"I haven't," Stacy said with a smile, "but I'm curious to hear the answer and the question, too." She closed her book and settled back onto the couch to make room for him. "If you're up for the telling."

He thought about it for a second, wondering if Cuddy had confided in Stacy about her relationship, such as it was. "Just a hypothetical situation," he said. "She was trying to figure out how somebody we both know would react. I had to think about it, but eventually I decided that the, ah, hypothetical situation wouldn't be a problem for any of the people who might be involved in it." Then Wilson grinned.

"Gosh. I'm starting to sound like a lawyer."

"More like a law student," Stacy said, raising an eyebrow with a smile. "Is this about the guy she's been seeing?" Stacy knew some. Not a lot, but some, and if she could offer added insight to Wilson's advice she was pretty sure Lisa wouldn't mind. They had been friends for too long.
