"I'm not getting married."

The words rang in his head as he pushed past her, as he made his way back through the settlement- the same thing, over and over again. He should have known that she would do this. How could he have been so frakking stupid? Lee felt sick to his stomach, like every bit of what he drank last night was about to make a ( Read more... )

It was the uniform she saw first. Helo had the very same one, but there was something about the hair. It was wrong, and now that she thought about it, pushing up on an elbow from where she'd been lying in the shade, he was too short. And then he spoke, and Kara overcame eight months worth of pregnant belly to leap to her feet. "Oh my gods," she opened her mouth to say, but nothing came out beyond a single choked whisper. "Lee."

After another moment, Lee was sure this wasn't the same planet. But how the frak did he end up here? Sidearm out and at the ready, he turned at the sound of a voice.

"...Kara?" He said, disbelief evident in his voice. His expression completely shifted, brows furrowing, eyes widening slightly. He lowered his sidearm slightly without realizing it.

Only it wasn't Kara, because he'd seen her only a few minutes ago...and she sure as hell didn't look like this.

"Oh my gods." It was easier to get out this time, and once out, Kara couldn't seem to stop the near hysterical laughter bubbling out of her. "Oh my gods, Lee, you're here." She hurried over to him across the sand. He looked so different in real sunlight, gods. She'd forgetten.

Sure. Wherever here was.

After boggling at her for another moment, his arm steeled, gun trained at her again. His words weren't exactly coherent as he looked down to her stomach then double taked.

"What did...you were just..."

She'd just stood there without any kind of explanation. She'd just let him walk by. Kara had at least. Lee wasn't exactly sure what he was looking at right now. The word 'cylon' tempted its way into his thoughts.

Bush had ended up spending much of the day inside, first lingering in the kitchen and then sitting in the rec room. He wasn't much for reading, but the shelf had given him a copy of Much Ado About Nothing, and seeing as it would not be long before Archie would be speaking of nothing else, he thought it best to give it a worthy effort. As a sort of precautionary measure.

But by evening he was restless, and with the book under his arm he headed out the door when, well, speak of the devil-

He had only caught sight of the man out of the corner of his eye when he began to speak. "Well, there you are. I'll have you know, I read most of the damned-" And then the sailor got a better look and stopped short. "Ah, forgive me."

Now that was strange.

Lee was still trying to wrap his mind around this whole 'island with no way to get back home' thing. Though Pegasus wasn't quite home, and neither was Galactica. Not really.

When someone came up to him, almost like he knew him, Lee looked a little confused. Then again, that was starting to be the rule for today.

"Uh...I'm sorry?"

He was older, and his hair was darker, that much was clear on second look. But more than that, the stance was wrong, and a certain amused twinkle that always shone in Archie's eyes was missing. No, it was a different man.

And yet the similarity was frightfully uncanny.

"Forgive me," he repeated. "You look remarkably like someone I know." He shook his head as if to clear it and then held out a hand. "William Bush. I imagine you're new?" Of course he was - even in his solitude, he would have noticed this man's presence, certainly.

The uniform was nice even if the condition of it left something to be desired. Still, it wasn't like this was the island's first hungover solider to ever show up. Aiden offered the man a less-than-formal salute before smiling politely. "Hey. Did you just get here?"

Even after all that had happened that morning, Lee was able to manage a polite smile of his own, though a little thrown off by the salute. "Yeah, this morning," He said, then offered a hand. "Lee Adama."

"Aiden Ford," he replied, shaking the other man's hand firmly. "I'm from Earth. Er, well, actually, I'm from Atlantis which is in the Pegasus Galaxy, but I was born on Earth."

Stephen had been delving in the tidepools not far from the mouth of the stream and was returning to the compound to wash up. On his way in, he caught sight of Lieutenant Kennedy, and as always, was pleased to see the young sailor, whom he had not spoken to in some time. "Ahoy there, Lieutenant!" he said, waving cheerfully. "How goes it with you, sir?"

It was only after he spoke that he realized that the man was dark-haired and dressed in an unfamiliar uniform which certainly was not Royal Navy issue. Was this one of the "clones" of which Dr. Wilson had spoken? How curious!

Coffee! Just how could they be out of coffee on Serenity? Kaylee was already back in the engine room, her finger was still healing, but only needed to be covered very lightly, that and she was careful. But coffee was the order of the day, something to wake her up a little - it wasn't exactly morning no, but caffeine was always helpful ( ... )
