"I'm not getting married."
The words rang in his head as he pushed past her, as he made his way back through the settlement- the same thing, over and over again. He should have known that she would do this. How could he have been so frakking stupid? Lee felt sick to his stomach, like every bit of what he drank last night was about to make a reappearance. Like his feet were about to collapse out from under him.
"Yeah. It was my idea."
"Frak you, Kara." He said aloud, and didn't notice when one of the civilians turned and looked at him like he was crazy. Probably because it was weird seeing the Admiral's son look so disheveled: duty uniform half buttoned, hair fighting to go in ten different directions.
No doubt Dee would be down in a raptor that morning, wondering why he hadn't come back to Pegasus the night before. While the party was a good excuse, he owed her some kind of explanation. After all, last night was supposed to be her first night onboard.
Way to screw it up, Lee. Way to let her screw it up.
He needed to get off the planet. Because if he had to stay down there, if he had to watch Kara Thrace and Samuel T. Anders...
To put it bluntly, Lee was glad that he'd be up in the air. He was glad for the 'endless CAPs' and the war being over. He was more than glad.
He closed his eyes tightly for a second to keep the world from spinning, and everything changed. Alluvial deposits beneath his feet became beach sand. The bright morning sun climbed high in an afternoon sky. He barely noticed at first; his head was throbbing from a mixture of hangover and confusion. When he opened his eyes, there was the edge of some forest that he'd never seen before. He blinked twice, trying to make sense of things.
Unless his eyes were playing tricks...that was an ocean. Blue water, stretching for miles and miles. This wasn't the settlement. This didn't even look like the same planet.
Lee turned, confused, looking at the unfamiliar surroundings, right hand instinctively reaching for his sidearm.
"Dee?" He asked, confused, and the only response he got was the call of a bird.
