Dorothy Gale had been depressed. After seven months -- a whole seven months! -- of being trapped in a strange land, her resolve was weakening. For all of December, the world outside had become a winter wonderland, and she was reminded of snow-covered pastures, and the smell of a fresh christms tree inside the farm house ( Read more... )

Daisy's enjoying the weather here, if only a little worried for what it's doing to her complexion, but she likes the sun because it's always done such marvelous things to her hair and now that she has her makeup, she feels like a person again. It'd only taken a few minutes to find herself something new to wear (heaven forfends that she wear the same thing twice, this might have been one of Rube's ploys, but Daisy Adair is not going to live like a poor person. Never has, never will).

And out she goes, enjoying a new day, a parasol above her head as she wanders.

And what do her eyes see but a very familiar face and little Judy looks just so lifelike and young. Maybe an imposter? Probably an imposter. "Morning," she calls out, friendly as ever with a stranger.

Dorothy turned at the sound of a young woman's voice. She smiled ever so slightly, and waved. "Good Morning," she replied sweetly.

Toto was two steps ahead, the little terrier sniffing at the young woman's feet.

Daisy looks down and well, if she isn't undead, but that's just like Toto. "You look amazingly similar to someone I used to know, may I ask what your name is, sweetie?"

Dorothy paused. She looked at the blonde woman, her head vaguely canted to the side. Dorothy was fairly certain she had never known this woman. "My name is Dorothy Gale. I don't beleive we've met before. How do you do?" she offered, with her best manners, and a small courtsey.

Calvin was walking on the path to the beach, going slowly to enjoy the fact that there was so much sun. He'd like the snow and ice, really liked it, but he was glad to have the island weather all back to normal. He'd missed the eternal summer a little bit.

He smiled when he saw Dorothy, raised his hand in greeting. "Morning, Miss Dorothy."

Dorothy paused in her stroll, and looked in the direction of the one hwo'd called her name. She remembered Calvin quite clearly, and her smile broadened. "Hello! Why, I haven't seen you in so long! Well, I suppose truly I haven't seen many people in a long while, but it is nice to see you again."

Toto was already at Calvin's feet, yapping up at him, as if he wished to be acknowledged as well.

"December was a singularly distracting month, what with the snow and the Christmas." He bent down to pet the dog whose name he couldn't quite remember. Then he glanced back up to Dorothy, still smiling. "How're you doing as of late?"

"Oh, I do wish I could say I was well... But I dont' think I've ever been quite so unwell," she confessed, the smile slipping a bit from her face. "It's been such an awfully long time since I got here, and ...I miss home so much. And with Christmas gone by now, well..."

Dorothy trailed off.
