Dorothy Gale had been depressed. After seven months -- a whole seven months! -- of being trapped in a strange land, her resolve was weakening. For all of December, the world outside had become a winter wonderland, and she was reminded of snow-covered pastures, and the smell of a fresh christms tree inside the farm house.
These memories did little to help her. Truly, they made things worse. She longed for home. Though she had Toto with her always, Dorothy missed her aunt and uncle, and the horses, and chickens, and everything else from home. If she could not go home, she wished atleast twice that she might be taken back to Oz.
Neither of her wishes came true. She ventured out to play in the snow once, but came back isnide when her hands and feet were wet and numb. She spent time by the fire, but kept mostly to her room. If her room-mate noticed, a word was never said on the matter. Dorothy was beginning to feel badly about missing her Friday Breakfast shifts, but she could scarcely motivate herself to wash and dress each morning.
On January 7th, she laid in bed, reading a book from the shelves upstairs. It was only when she finally rose in the mid-afternoon, that she found the Gift; wrapped and tied with a ribbon, and addressed to Ms. Dorothy Gale. Toto had barked and nipped at the ribbons, until Dorothy opened it. For the first time in over a month, a bit of a smile graced her lips.
The next morning she rose with the sun, and stepped out into the world in a pretty little mint-green sundress, sinched and tied in the back, and a pair of matching flip-flop sandals. Her thick, chestnut locks were tied loosely back at the nape of her neck, with a pretty, green-and-white striped ribbon.
Maybe, she could try, just a little more.
[ OOC: she lives! Poor girl's been a depressive little recluse. She got a pretty new dress! come say hello to her, she needs friends. ]
